DAY NINE - QUARANTINE IN AUSTRALIA

I don't think I've ever seen so many buses in a row before...

ABOVE:  All them people heading into the CBD for work and SHOPPING no doubt.  OMG I miss fresh air... freedom... shopping.  And of course, human interaction.

When food is delivered to the door, by the time I get to open the door, the delivery person is long gone.  So, not even a 'hello'.

And I'm not gunna attract the attention of the cop or army personal out on the corridor. I've already been growled at for putting my head out the door a tiny bit too much!  I'm sure they have no interest in engaging in a quick conversation.

πŸ˜’πŸ˜”πŸ˜ž

You really do need a lot of inner fortitude to get through this.  I miss hugs.

'They' say isolation is a form of torture.  I must admit, any longer than two weeks would be pretty hard to imagine.

I hope I don't (when released), ask my taxi driver for a hug!  But I might!  lol

ABOVE: Last night.  The buggers look rather happy with themselves at the local pub.  Lucky buggers.  I pretty much don't drink, but that beer looks damn fine from here.

ABOVE:  I got it wrong yesterday.  THESE are the glasses Lacy chose.  *sigh*  Are we all happy now?

ONWARD...

Well... it's 7.34 am and I've been awake since 4.30 am.  I do hope my body clock adjusts to the time difference soon!

It's only two hours, so not too bad I suppose.

I decided to make an effort with the face/clothes today.  I was a sloth yesterday.

ABOVE:  I bought that top online.... and just love it.  It's still a big 'snug' over the boobage, but let's just say... I'm now on a diet.  'Enforced'... but that's OK.

So... all dressed up.  Nowhere to go.  At least I made an effort right?

Shit a brick!  Knock on the door announcing the arrival of breakfast, and I literally jumped out of my skin!  Sheesh.  Jumpy!

ABOVE:  Hmmm.. think I'm having fruit salad for breakfast!

This effort gets 2/10, cos I can eat the salad and use the sugar on me cornflakes.

Just a question:  Who eats DRY boiled eggs for breakfast?  With spinach leaves?

I'm sorry to everyone who thinks I'm an incredibly fussy person, and ungrateful for the food being given to me.

But in my defense, when you are in my situation... already feeling goddam depressed, to be in quarantine and have food not to my liking day in day out... it compounds.

Good news though!  It's day NINE.  Getting there... slowly but surely.

Playing Patience... well I've still not won a single game... but I'm actually enjoying it.

I almost got the last hand out... only two cards left.  Oh well.. I will keep trying.

I just finished talking to our family twat (Lacy).  She is on the move again... into another flatting situation next week.  I doubt she could ever count up how many times she has moved!

At least this time the guy isn't 'out to get her' as such!  Remember a few years ago, the guy who stalked her and sent her threatening texts?  Yeah, glad this situation isn't that bad.

Right... back to me cards.

Everything pales into insignificance when I get news that Mum is back in hospital.  Pain management is an issue.  And there is talk some more radiation to reduce a troublesome tumor is on the cards.  I feel so helpless. I've been so good with the tears the past day or so.  Now?  Not so much.

Love you OLD MOO, feel better soon.

ABOVE: Lunch arrived at 11 am!

So ANYWAY.... No meat with last night's dinner.  No meat at lunch time today either.

I sure in hell know I didn't tell them I was VEGAN!

Just as well I have some ham and pastrami left from what I got in from Woolworths!  And some burgen bread too.  I think a nice salad sandwich is going to be made.

Whoops!  Forgot to rate lunch:  2/10, cos I like the carrot sticks and hummus.

And yes, that is ***
CHILLI *** dressing in the little pot.  Just sayin'.

It's been a very quiet afternoon... apart from a couple of video chats with an aunt and a girlfriend.
I've got another darn headache, so am taking it easy.  Got some paracetamol in my handbag, so took a couple.

ABOVE: There's some biggish clouds forming... and it's gotten very blustery outside.  I'm hoping for a storm, that would be awesome.  But probably won't happen.  Man there's some really low, puffy clouds flying by quite fast!
I can't see anyone working on the big building now ... I wonder if they have to stop when the wind gets too strong?

DINNER arrived BANG on 6 pm! Which meant it wasn't in a hot box for long.... and was hot and fresh.

ABOVE:  Wow!  It was amazing!  Steamed Salmon with salad veges.  And some sort of delicious, creamy sauce.  And a side salad.  And a pear.  I really am enjoying the pears!

Tonight's dinner gets a resounding 10/10.  They couldn't do any better.  So thankful.

Interesting how a nice meal can lift your spirits so much.  I'm now going to lie in bed and watch something on Netflix.  And relax.

I've been quite tense all day.... I can feel it in me shoulders.
I know why though, and there is nothing I can do about it.  Just have to stop worrying so much.
Mum is where she needs to be right now.

    Good Morning DCR 😊

The two plairs of glasses πŸ‘“ are pretty much the same, I can barely tell them apart lol πŸ˜‚ 🀣

as for the Iso situo... I don't think I could do it so I take my dam hat right off to ya Ma, but then in saying that, I would do it if I needed to for Family πŸ‘ͺ

and please don't ask the taxi driver for a hug, but if you must.... could you please video it lol πŸ˜‚ 🀣 πŸ’‹

  2. Those glasses look good too. I would not have even noticed the difference. Glad the boys are able to go out and have fun. I suppose the "novelty" of your isolation is wearing thin right about now!

  3. Oh man! I think the inconsistency with the food this week would annoy me more than anything...And boiled eggs with spinach? I mean really? Butter and jam for what?

Yep don’t get the boiled eggs and spinach either. I would eat the eggs but as a snack.. at least you get provided with butter to make your ironed Sandwich lol.

  5. I'd eat them.... but I like them. I probably would ear most of the food you be been given but seriously if you don't like it there's nowhere to go!! It would drive me insane. You're holding up extremely well πŸ’™πŸ’™

    1. I can order in a meal ONCE a day, and also buy food off a limited menu from this Hotel's Bistro. I imagine there's lots of people doing that. I just thought when you are paying $3,000 to stay here (with that being mandatory), there could have been some choice in the food on offer. And I really don't like the idea of spending money on food if I don't have to. I can afford to... but what if you couldn't?

    2. I know. Pretty shitty for paying that money. Terrible they don't really give you a choice. Still.... nearly there πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜‰

  6. Take your egg and spinach use it for a sandwich later on. Add cheese and Ham 😊😘πŸ₯°
If I was paying $3000 I’d be complaining you can bet ya arse on that. If your paying you should have a choice not just given Radom shit that I wouldn’t eat either.
If the government is paying ya take what ya given.
    Love ya πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ˜˜

Well in response to me knowing about men's diddles ummm I will not disclose any information for I may incriminate myself from when I was much younger lol 🀐🀐 good on you Chris for finding the positive things during your stay in the clink πŸ‘πŸ˜Š George's Mum.

  8. A hard boiled egg can be served alone , but with salt! I don't see any salt. The spinach must be "garnish" because eating dry spinach is not appetizing (unless you are dying of starvation). Not sure how they can give you cereal with no milk. Perplexing! The fruit salad should be fine. Maybe crumble the cereal on top of it? Still.... even that concoction might be helped with MILK!

    1. I was given a 1 ltr bottle of long life milk a few days ago... so I do have milk thank goodness!

  9. Breaking it down the $3,000 actually only covers the cost of the hotel room (normally probably $250 per night. Then there is the cost of the security guards, bus transport, nurses, testing etc etc. That is where the $3,000 actually goes so I'm thinking that if you can afford better food, do it. I sure would. I would love that sultana bran with milk and fruit salad on and I'd sure eat the eggs. I think you have an odd menu because you said no carbs so they still put in the butter and jam to have on bread. I think also the eggs and spinach might be for putting in a bun that they don't give you. Again, while your menus would suit me I get that you don't like them so there should be some sort of choice offered. Not long now though... :)

They sell eggs and spinach like that at Woolworths. Lots of people like them as it’s a good source of protein. And I know others who eat just eggs as they want filling food without carbs. I’d be mashing them up and making an egg sandwich. Perhaps other people get bread with theirs. Not having any menu choice would be really hard. Nearly there.

  11. Breakfast is probably one of the most diverse meals across cultures. When you think about it every country has a different type. Lunch and dinner tend to be more similar - protein carbs and veges. If you're interested google it. I find other people's eating habits fascinating.
And as for complaining ... whoever is complaining about you complaining should stop complaining or I'll start complaining about their complaining. Sheesh. What are you meant to do? Rave about inedible food? You are providing a vital service - keeping your readers in touch with you and amused. So there!
I am now going to keep my fingers crossed as I leave metropolitan Melbourne for an hour and half drive into rural Victoria to pick up our new 8 week old German Shepherd puppy. I will be stopped at a checkpoint and just hope all the information I have been given is correct. Otherwise I could face a hefty fine and worse, not get my puppy today! If anyone had told me this was going to be the situation a year ago I would have asked what drugs they were on.

    3. Oh my goodness! A GSD -German Shepard Dog)? I find it entertaining that they are actually called "German Shepard Dog". I LOVE literal things like that.... and to call a dog a dog is very pleasing to me! Where I live (and in my local dog training club) GSD's are VERY popular. I think they walk funny to be honest. Like something is wrong with their back legs. But, they are beautiful, loyal, and protective. My Dog Club members show them. So, Many times I have been asked to act like a "judge" and come by (while they are "stacked" just right) and pet them, and look at their teeth and so on. Just so they are used to strangers doing such things !

  12. I wonder if those buses were taking more people into quarantine? I'm sure I saw that a whole lot of people got off planes in Sydney this morning? I don't get the eggs and spinach either but you can complain all you want, it's not like you're on holiday you are doing this for your mother.

    1. Nah, that's just where they store the buses for peak hour. There's another section over the other side of the Harbour Bridge where they do the same. My brother works for State Transit. :)

Considering that you came from New Zealand where there is hardly any covid, I think they should have made an allowance for that and had less quarantine time...you are doing well coping, you really are...

  17. Nine days quarantine and you are COVID free ...there are so many things I wish to say about how Australia is handling this virus, but I won't...I don't live there so should just be quiet. But now that your Mom is hospitalized again, well, Dear Lord, they should let you out...wear a mask or face shield ..whatever it takes...but you should be allowed out now to at least see your Mom thru a glass window.....Sorry, I'm just very angry...I'm a retired RN and families must be able to stand beside and hold the hands of their loved ones during times like this...Sorry, I know my ranting doesn't help you at all...you're being very strong...I'll shut up now...It's just so sad.
