I feel like crap. Got the cold that the rest of the family has had. I thought I was going to dodge it. Not so.
Might be a quiet day ... lots of fluids diet coke and nurophen me thinks.
If I feel a bit better soon I will make another dress for Brylee today.
ABOVE: guess who's been 'doing the gardening'? Bruiser AND Coco! So at some point today I will need to give the little bugger a bath in readiness for meeting his new family tomorrow.
Awwww... he's leaving home tomorrow!
I'm happy he is going to his forever family at last, where he can settle down and bond with them. But we will miss him so much! He has been a part of our family for 10 weeks!
I think tomorrow will be interesting. Coco has not really noticed the other puppy's leaving, we always made sure she was not in the room when the pups were taken away. But I am sure she is going to notice that there are NO pups after tomorrow afternoon! I hope she is not going to pine for Bruiser. Time will tell.
ONWARD...
So... I do have the blasted cold. And it's yuk. The kids and I went down to the mall to pay some more off me luggage... realised I couldn't pick it up this week afterall.. I still owe too much on it!
OH, there is always next week!
Got some lemons too.. making Lemon Meringue Pie tomorrow ... got my Aunt and Uncle coming for dinner.
Right now... I'm sewing a wee dress for Hayley, our granddaughter Sienna's sister.
Should be done soon.
My ears are blocked! This is NOT a bad thing at all! I can't hear Brylee and Griffin arguing! There has to be something good about feeling bloody awful eh? lol
ABOVE: Hayley's dress, and hem detail. Really happy with this dress now.
And now.. I'm going to take some more pills and have a lie down, I really feel ikkkk.
HA HA HA! What a joke. Get a rest with Brylee and Griffin in the house? yeah right. They didn't let me forget for one second that they were home. Grrrrrr.
It's nearly dinner time. I've got wedges and chicken chips in the oven... easy dinner. And I'm sipping of me Tipple. That should make me chill out!
End of Day: Not really feeling any better, will be off to bed in a mo. Just made another wee dress too... sewing is so relaxing!
nite nite.
I shall miss seeing the puppies .perhaps some more next year.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon
I hope you get well soon! Little Bruiser, all locked up ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon and that you don't miss the puppies too much !
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Me
Hi Chris, I just caught up on your posts-- sewing (fabulous), the pups (adorable) and your cold (so sorry).
ReplyDeleteHope you're 100% by the weekend to enjoy it.
Cheers, jj
I hope you feel better, and don't get the cold. If you do get it, hope it is mild and goes away fast.
ReplyDeleteIf you do get it, I hope I don't catch it from you, you just stay over there on the other side of the planet till it's gone.
:-)
Then drop by anytime!
I like it when you post your Friday post, it's still Thursday here but I know Friday is coming!
My Wife says I owe you an apology because you don't understand my warped sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteHey Chris! So sorry that you've managed to catch that cold...I think I dread colds more than anything. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI would have such a hard time saying goodbye to little Bruiser...the first one to arrive and the last one to leave! I know you are going to miss him, but he is going to have a wonderful life, I'm sure. I hope it won't be too hard for Coco to make the transition to being an empty-nester!
XOXO,
Cyndi
I like that dress the hem is nice and different too, kids arguing ahhhh nothing like school holidays, Bruiser certainly must of enjoyed the gardening he was mucky dirty as!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow is Steve job going? I hope you start to feel better soon.
You make sure you rest up & get properly better. If the kids are getting scratchy send them off to the local school holiday programme for a couple of days either at the school or the YMCA, it is worth the $$ to get a break for you to rest up (even if it means you have to pick up your luggage a week or 2 later than you thought.
ReplyDeleteTake care :-)
I am so sorry that a cold has jumped on you.My wonderful new book says that people who eat breakfast are less likely to catch a cold. (don't know if I believe that because I always eat breakfast and those buggers till love to jump on me.
ReplyDeleteThen they suggest Ginger: Gently simmer three to four slices of fresh ginger root in a pint of hot water for 10 to 30 minutes and enjoy.
Also : Pineapple juice and honey. Says coughing can leave your throat feeling scratchy and sore. Just mix together 9 ounces of warm pineapple juice with two teaspoons of honey for a delicious, soothing drink. I thought that this sounded interesting because I have never heard of this.
Don't forget chicken soup : the hot liquid moistens and clears your nasal passages and soothes your sore throat. To make your own add some garlic, celery, parsnips, onions, sweet potatoes , carrots, turnips, and parsley to your homemade chicken broth.
Water - Very import-drink plenty of water to replace fluid you are losing. Water will also keep your throat lining moist and supple so it won't crack and let viruses in. Drink 3 glasses a day , enough to turn your urine almost clear.
If you use herbs, they recommend:
Elderberry-helps cool a temperature and relieve congestion.
Echinacea - used to stop colds in their tracks. Use at the first sign of a cold.Should never be used for more than 8 weeks.
Thyme - can relieve congestion. Steep about one teaspoon in a cup of warm water and drink it three times a day. Add honey to soothe your throat.
Marshmallow root - can soothe an irritated throat and calm a cough. You can find as a liquid extract, powdered root , dried leaves, capsules, and tablets.
Horehound: coughs and congestion. To make a tea steep one teaspoon ofthe dried leaves in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink four or five times a day to clear your sinuses and soothe your cough. -don't use if you have an ulcer.
Eucalyptus - Ease congestion Add a few drops of the essential oil to a bowl of steaming water. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the vapors. You nose might feel stuffier for about half an hour, but be patient. You'll soon be breathing with ease.Eucalyptus thins and loosens mucus so it's easier to cough up.
Hope you feel better fast. Not good in the school holidays :(
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your tipple...you deserve it :)
I love the little embroidered detail on the hem of the blue dress. Hope you get better soon. If I get a blocked ear I would immediately go see my ear-nose-and-throat doc. I'm paranoid about my ears. My doc always says my ears get blocked because of my nose. So I take really good care of my nose. Take care. Btw, wonder if Teddy noticed the pups are gone?
ReplyDeleteLove the hem detail on the dress! I hope you are feeling better :)
