Late yesterday afternoon, I decided to 'tweak' the house a little bit, after reading all the suggestions.
First up, I took the big glass jar off the dining table, and the tablecloth.
ABOVE: While I LOVE my glass jar, I must admit the table looks GREAT without it there. The jar dominated that entire space. Why hadn't I seen that before?
That area feels so much lighter and more spacious now. So weird.
ABOVE: The jar ended up down in the sunroom... where it fits in beautifully.
ABOVE: I tried putting the jar in this corner, but it was far too cluttered there.
While there, I took all the chair head rest / arm rest covers off. Again, it makes quite a difference to how the rooms feel not having them there. Less BUSY.
ABOVE: The last 'tweak' of the day was putting the two extra bar stools by that bench. Shows that area can be used for sitting as well. And I took the plants off the counter top.
I realise this does not make the house look any more 'lived in', but meh. There's only so much I can do and still stay true to how we live in our home. I ain't making a mess!
App for paying for purchases with ya phone? Who recommends what app? I have a Samsung Galaxy phone.
I did not finish those blasted Braid Runners yesterday! I simply ran out of energy.
So that's top of me list today.
I am also going to bake some Oat and Raisin cookies today. I want to see if they make the house smell delicious! It's a recipe that you can make the dough, then freeze it for future use. So could be damn handy for Open Homes, not having to actually make the dough on the day. Bright idea eh?
ABOVE: 9.56 am: Well my first batch of cookies are done. I only put 9 on the tray, in case they spread out too much. They didn't. I ate one. It was OK, but not super yum.
I'm going to try a different recipe next, one that uses molasses. That might give them more flavour.
This lot was about to go in the oven when I realised I'd forgotten to add the rolled oats! Whoops. It wasn't a hard fix, I just had to put them all back in the bowl and mix the oats in, then re-roll them out etc.
I am going to buy those half baked bread rolls next as well, to see how they 'smell' coming out of the oven. I will do anything to make the place more inviting! lol
Now I've stopped and had some lunch.
What I get up to now I have no idea.
I got up to ... nothing! I spent the afternoon browsing the internet, checking out recipes and patterns, just a nice, relaxing afternoon.
Stew is now home. We shall have our usual evening... watching the telly and bugger all else.
I feel like life is on 'hold' right now. I can't wait to move and have stuff to do! Sorting out a new home, rearranging shit, fluffing around and so on.
But for now... nothing needs doing around here at all. Just ticking along.
Catch ya tomorrow.
Freezer dough is brilliant. Probably a couple cookies baking is the same cookie smell as a whole batch.

I have always wanted to say that I never liked head rests, arm rests on your chairs, but I thought it was extremely rude of me, because what I wanted to say was that it makes the room look like a nursing home, in my opinion....there, I’ve said it and happy to be told to fuck off 😂. Marie, Melbourne
ReplyDeleteThey were there cos those chairs get dirty quick. But yeah, I prefer them off. I'd never tell you to fuck off!!
DeleteOh and app for paying with your phone? I just have my bank credit/debit card in the wallet thing, maybe drop in to your bank and ask them for help. Rude person, Melbourne
ReplyDeletelol... you are not a rude person!
DeleteOooh yes the table looks great!! 👌 looks good all over i think. I need to do the same at my house 😍
ReplyDeleteI just added my visa to Samsung Wallet and use that to make purchases with my phone all the time. It's super easy, just swipe up and use the pin, tap like a credit card. xx Colleen
ReplyDeleteLove all the subtle changes you have made to your home. Especially removing the head rests and arm rests lol (so I agree with Marie from Melbourne lol). Your dining and kitchen areas look excellent. I honestly wouldn’t go to the trouble of cooking anything for homely smells at open houses. I’d much prefer subtle diffuser smells. Nothing too overpowering though in terms of any smells in the house. The nose is an amazing receptor for our brains - good or bad. Your house is immaculately prepared for sale so I definitely wouldn’t over think what to do to make it sell. It’s perfect as it is
ReplyDeleteHow about Anzac bickies?
ReplyDeletePhew, I thought I was treading on thin ice suggesting the removal of the armrest covers but clearly others agree :) Big improvement on the table too. Regarding having your card on your phone there is an advantage in that no one can use it except you because you need to unlock your phone first (as opposed to a chip in a card). A downside is that some places charge a small fee but not supermarkets or bigger outlets. Like the others have said, it's just in my wallet on my iPhone so I'm sure a phone shop would help you get it on your phone.
ReplyDelete😂ha ha Lynda, my filter (lack of), thank goodness Chris is a much nicer person than me. I understand Chris about keeping oily heads off chairs blah blah, we’ve got leather so it’s easy to clean. Where the fuck does that oil come from, he’s hardly got any hair but 🤷♀️. Am glad he doesn’t read this. Marie, Melbourne
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking great but it always does.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had crocheted antimacassars on all her chairs and I got told off if I pulled or knocked one off so I don't like them. I haven't heard the word "antimacassars" for a very long time but most people call them chairbacks now. Once you move into your new house you will be able to put them all back. Your house looks great and someone soon is going to love it. Audrey
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rhonda, forget about cooking smells..a soft smelling diffuser is best...you have gotten rid of all your extra "clutter" treasures...so people can imagine their own furniture in your home...less busy is good...Peta
ReplyDeleteI remember my brother and sister in law used to bake bread just before their open houses. Oh boy that smell of baking bread was fantastic. The smell of baking cookies will get em in just that right happy mood. They had an open fire and used to light the fire too. Maybe you should put some blow up toys in the pool.
ReplyDeleteIt looks better but I would take the large wall hangings down for a more uncluttered look..
