Right, first up for the day is a walk. Either with, or without Lacy, though she has said she's coming. I'm hoping to rope her into vacuuming me floors for me while she's here.
Stew was going to do it yesterday, but his back was absolutely KILLING HIM.
Next will be me going to The Base to buy a smaller TV for the front bedroom, and a wall bracket to hang it on. The one we have in there right now is FAR TOO BIG, and cannot be mounted on the wall. We got it way back in 2011, so time for a replacement.
Once I've done that, I'll come home for me lunch. Then I have a bloke coming down from Auckland to put a protectant on the new rug. It's worth the $$'s to do all we can to keep it in good condition.
I have a few happy photos of the kids visit yesterday now:
ABOVE: I'm not sure of the details, but Dante got 'dared?' to cut off all his hair for $100. Of course he did it! I was like... WOW! Such a change. It will grow back super fast, and he won't have a cold head for long.
ABOVE: Lily thoroughly enjoyed playing with our three toy boxes. And their contents.
ABOVE: She was also intrigued by Willy The Waiter. I made that for Stew way back in 2002, when we lived in Palmerston North. Right, that's me for now. I'm going to get up and do the housework, before we go for our walk.
Hmmmm.... some sad comments overnight and this morning. Makes me yet again ponder why I do this blog thing?
Perhaps it's time to pull the plug and leave the 'social media' rat race.
I've felt like this on quite a few other occasions, and the single reason I haven't done it yet is STEW. He doesn't want me to stop. He likes knowing what he's doing on the weekend (lol), and what sort of wife he's coming home to after work!
But seriously... almost 19 years of this. Some good, some bad. What to do?
In the meantime. I got a tv and bracket. The telly is in the back of the car, and the bracket is 6 weeks away. Pointing out... STEW wanted the new TV. I did not twist his fucking arm to get it.
OR anything else in this house, or for us.
HE BUYS SHIT TOO.
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "STILL WORKING ON THE LIST":
You seem to have unlimited money to blow whenever you need to satisfy your need to buy buy buy.poor Stew
WORTH MENTIONING... WHAT WE DO, OR DON'T BUY IS ABSOLUTELY NONE OF YOUR GODDAM BUSINESS! FUCK OFF EVEN.
I am already over today.
Lacy arrived in time to have some lunch with me. Then she did the vacuuming, thanks so much tart.
The bloke arrived and sprayed the protectant on the rug, took him all of 5 minutes. And off he went, and so did Lacy.
Now I get to relax for the afternoon.
There is nothing pressing on my agenda for the rest of the day.
Sure, I could do a few odd jobs, but MEH. Can't be arsed right now.
2.13 pm. I walk out to me car, and see A & S, close neighbours. Call out "HI", and they come over and ask me if I'm going to the Residents Meeting, as they were heading off there now. So I tag along with them...nothing else to do.
We get down to the meeting room, no one is there. Whoops, S got the day wrong.
Never mind. Walk through the foyer, and there's a big bag of fresh carrots and potatoes, free for the taking.
ABOVE: Why thanks, don't mind if I do. Look at that, a bonus to living here.
2.57 pm: Steve (son) heard we had to wait 6 weeks for the TV bracket. Said 'HELL NO', and rang around and found one here, that he can lay his hands on in a couple of days! So I cancelled the bracket I'd ordered, and we shall have the TV on the wall by the weekend. RESULT.
Stew will be ever so happy.
7.27 pm: Coco and I had a snoozy afternoon, curled up together on the sofa bed, sharing a hot pod and blanket. The lounge reeked of whatever it was the bloke put on the rug, so retiring to the front room was a good idea. It didn't bother me to begin with (the smell), but certainly got to me after a while.
Stew arrived home, and kindly cooked our dinner. Sausages and veges. Very yum.
Now we are looking forward to a quiet evening in front of the telly.
Catch ya tomorrow.
Cute kids 😍
ReplyDeleteWow Dante and Archer have grown so tall. Dante looks so different without hair. Older! Little Lilly is gorgeous with her ginger hair. She is ɓeautiful. what a fun day you had.kj
ReplyDeleteI commiserate, switching houses often means decluttering on a huge scale and then having to buy different versions of things to fit the new house. (But is very fun to have new stuff for the new house.)
ReplyDeleteIt is mind blowing how much TV’s have changed. At one point I got rid of all the old box TV’s. Huge and weighed a ton. Now the first flat screens we got also seem like they weigh a ton in comparison to the newer ones.
We also are having to redo built in spaces that originally held the old box units. One of my living room walls is getting redone next week.
Your new house clearly had not been redone in many years. It is good you are updating. The bathroom in particular was a must.
Better to live in an updated house. And better to stay on top of it incase you ever sell.

Why not remove the snarky comments and their writers? Makes me wonder if its someone you know. Its nobodys business but yours. You have good honest friends who love your blog and photos. And we love you Chris and Stew. And is you give up because of some nosey horrible person I hope they're ready for us. Kj
ReplyDeleteAww Chris, some people just love creating drama in there lives and want too in others as it's not your life, but there own lives they are unhappy with.
ReplyDeleteJust stay out of there movie as it's not worth it.
Hi Chris...I've followed your blog for many years now from USA, Illinois. I love your blog for many reasons, and I hope you will continue. I'm an "elderly, as they say" and think you and Stew are so smart to downsize your living now. Your wonderful family folks are adults and making their own lives. I'm a believer in downsizing your life for you and Stew in the years ahead. You two will be the ones living and accomodating for those elder yrs. to come so make your home a place of comfort for you both.
ReplyDeleteYes, don't worry about silly people, we are retired in my case and maybe nearly your and Stew's ? we have worked hard and can now spend "our" money...on whatever the "F" we want...I do.... people are just jealous. lol. Peta
ReplyDeletePeta we're the same, we lived from payday to payday when the kids were growing up and we have also downsized and are enjoying having extra $$ to do what we want these days. Until husband retires then we'll be eating cat food. LOL
DeletePoor anon's just jealous😂
ReplyDeleteYip 💯 spot on there....jealous and nasty and petty 🤣
Delete#Lacy💙💜
"Anonymous" continues to be a miserable git, jealous of your life and your family (and your creativity, and your ability to create a lovely home and garden for yourself wherever you live). Those little spasms of pointless bile must relieve their self hatred for a minute or two - but nothing works for long, eh "Anonymous"? Just keep living your best life Chris - it's driving them crazy.

Loving the pictures Dante is so tall wowza.
ReplyDeleteArcher and Lily too cute, it’s amazing how many things are on back order these days. It’ll all arrive at once bracket TV, which set of curtains went up? I forget.
Another glorious sunny day.
If they do not have the guts to put a name to their comments then they do not deserve to occupy space in your head. They are jealous twats with no life &, with those attitudes, I imagine no friends.
ReplyDeleteSome people will always be jealous of people who have more than them or whom they think live better than they do. It is usually people who arent happy with themselves. Just keep living your best life and tell the jealous ones to F off. They are not worth one bit of your time. Just delete their stupid remarks and move on with your day.
ReplyDeleteChris - people like that are losers and sad people. Pay them no mind. Ky Girl
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with the comment that the anonymous nasty comment(s) could be someone you know and isn’t in your life and is extremely jealous. Their problem and I hope you don’t take it to heart (almost impossible I know). From reading your blog for many years I see you as an extremely resourceful person who is always looking at the best, most economical way to buy things or reinvent and rejuvenate things you already have. Both you and Stew have worked so hard to provide for your very large family, and I’d presume went without many things yourselves! It’s your bloody time to reap your rewards of your hard work. You are more than a great team, you are a loving couple who do everything together and make decisions together! Please don’t let insecure, cowards get under your skin. 💕💕
ReplyDeleteFirstly, WTF is wrong with people? Secondly, Dante looks so handsome with his head shaved, he's a lovely mix of his mum and dad. Thirdly you are so blessed with those grand kids.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what you say or do or buy or don’t buy.. someone is going to criticize. People seem incapable of minding their own business and keeping their mouths shut. I am posting from my phone because the power has been out for 15 hours . Dogstars
ReplyDeleteThat's very disappointing that someone has the pip that you can afford to buy a new TV, how insignificant must that person be. I feel no one has the right to criticise unless they are contributing to the cost, even then as I say to my hubby I will buy what I want as long as I am working so don't be a flaming handbrake haha - Margaret
ReplyDeleteSome people live a sad life and thrive off drama !!
ReplyDeleteRobyn x
Fancy having cheek to say how much money u spend none of ANYONE'S BIZZ. Hope the carpet/rug chemical smell clears before you closed house up for the night. Sweet dreams.
ReplyDeleteDon’t you dare give up your blog. I love following your adventures
ReplyDeleteMargaret from Palmy
I always enjoy seeing your kids and grandkids. Lily of course is the big sweety pie but Dante looks good with his bare head. A handsome lad.
ReplyDeleteA pox on the trolls. Why do they even bother reading your blog! Keep on writing for goodness sake. Love love love reading about your family and your kiwi lifestyle.
I agree with what others above have said ... the trolls must lead very sad, lonely lives if they have nothing better to do all day than through negative comments around. Maybe they should try some kindness - they might actually find life is a lot more satisfying for them. What you spend your money on is absolutely no ones business other than yours and Stews. Enjoy your new purchases - you have both worked hard and deserve to have nice things.
ReplyDeletePay no attention to those nasty comments. You are doing a wonderful job setting up your house the way you like it. If you want a new tv get a new tv. Dante looks very grown up with no hair. Have a better day today. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have a few extra funds from downsizing sheesh. People are so rude. I was trying to work out who that big boy was and it's DANTE! He looks like a teenager already!
ReplyDeleteThe kids look great. Growing up so fast! Steve sure has ways to fix things & get things. He is a treasure to have in your life. You're getting closer to getting all moved in.
ReplyDeleteI so look forward every day to seeing what you and Stew up to, especially now follow our settling into to your smaller home, which will allow you a bit of financial freedom too. So l suspect, like some of the other comments, that anonymous poster is someone who knows you personally , who has major grudge & unhappy miserable life of their own & is just a git troll. I would miss you so much!! Dawn P. Albany, Georgia USA
