Thanks to others, our plans for the day have changed.
MOST ANNOYING.
Particularly as we were not actually TOLD or informed of the change of plans.
We are totally OVER this shit.
So, now we are going on a little trip to Tirau with an extra on board.
Instead of what we had planned on doing.
ABOVE: Patches of blue sky! Worth taking a bloody photo of.
...
We had lunch at The Cabbage Tree. Since it changed hands a while ago the meals are very average. Sad.
Did all the gift shops in Tirau. Almost bought some ceramic houses, but decided no. Instead I got some Christmas figurines.
I ALMOST feel guilty about spending money on useless 'objects'... but NO.
I have worked hard for my money, so I shall spend it how I want.
NO SILVER SPOON shit going on here.
And if you are going to use that sort of analogy... you better check the correct meaning of the phrase. If you are born with a silver spoon IN YOUR MOUTH, you COULD be self entitled cos you were born with money.
Stew and I were NOT.
Gosh I am now so tired. And just over so much.
We have decided to draw a line in the sand and say NO MORE. The next 20 years of our lives (if we are so lucky) is going to be about US. What we want to do. Not what is forced on us.
We have already had our lives direction changed so much over the past two decades. NO MORE.
We don't REGRET the past two decades at all... but we are not letting anyone direct our next 20.
We are going out after dinner. Very excited about it. More later.
And dinner tonight is really, really lazy food! Spaghetti and cheese in a bowl, zapped in the microwave and served with toast. Cos we had a proper 'meal' at lunchtime.
And I don't feel guilty about it at all.
The 'exciting thing' we were doing after dinner was a complete and utter disappointment!
We went out to see the Temple View Christmas Lights.
Last time we were there was 33 years ago. The lights were bloody amazing THEN.
Tonight?
Fuck what an utter waste of time.
ABOVE: There was a strip of Christmas lighting on one side of the rise up to the Temple, and half a strip on the right side. AND THAT WAS IT.
Oh sorry, two big trees had a few lights on them too, but only half way up the tree.
There were also some lights down on the boardwalk by the carpark/playground and lake. But seriously, it was PATHETIC.
So, so disappointing.
I felt sorry for all the people who might have travelled from out of town to see 'the amazing Temple lights'.
Embarrassing if you had talked them up to anyone!
On our way home we did the Harrowfield suburb Christmas Lights. They were excellent. So, so much better than anywhere else.
I will post a couple of photos of them tomorrow.
For now... it's bedtime. I'm tired. And crabby.
Stew better watch himself cos he's getting on my bloody wick too.
Sorry your time with your main man has been buggered up. Enjoy the day all the same.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you Chris re saying no. You deserve to make the calls that are right for you and Stew. You have given so much of yourself to everyone. It’s about time you put yourself first
ReplyDeleteOh no.....
ReplyDeleteWhat a disappointment.
I hope you all had a nuce day regardless.
From now on "You do you". Now, I know what that expression means!
Yes you both deserve all the best and it is time for you two. I am in awe of all the years you devoted to parenting. Love the figures, I hope you enjoy them for a long time. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteIf the situation was reversed would they change their plans for you? No.as much as I love to have time in Tirau one day, you had other plans with Stew. You both come first! First equal then lol. How's Stews back? Kj
ReplyDeleteHis back is still not that good, but it is a bit better.
DeleteYummo tea sounds great! Haven't had spaghetti on toast for years. Yes you start looking after yourselves, you have spent all those years raising kids, it's time to say no to them and start enjoying life your way!
ReplyDeleteDon't touch the knife please Chris lol!!
ReplyDeleteThose lights are pathetic. And this was some spectacular event that they advertised? Whoops!
