Today our youngest grandchild turns 5.
And for the first time ever, our grandson won't be going to school on his 5th birthday like all of the others did.
We are living in strange times for sure.
Turning 5 means going to school in this country, so for him to be at home, doing home schooling is something new.
ARCHER, we love you and miss you dreadfully. We hope you have a lovely day with Mum, Dad and Dante. We will have to do presents and cake as soon as we are allowed to travel again.
Today I'm going to try and get out of my funk... which is lingering.
I might do some baking... a cake I think. The Anzac biscuits are all gone... they proved very popular.
I'm giving some thought to how I can sell my sewing products from home. Maybe a sign out the front, limited hours, set up in the garage? Not sure, still mulling it over.
That could be half the reason for my funk. Just don't know what to do. I love doing my sewing, but there is no point if I can't sell it. *sigh*
Right, I'm off to start the day. I think I have a new addition for the tree? Yeah, I do. Just a 'normal' strip today.
ONWARD...
ABOVE: I'm baking.
ABOVE: I am SICK TO DEATH of this smell.
ABOVE: Working from home. And now I know.
He spends 80% of his time yakking on the phone.
I'd like a job like that thanks.
ABOVE: It's raining.
Yes, I forgot to turn off the flash.
Deal with the bright orb.
ABOVE: Raining?
Not a problem.
I have a BIG sun room to dry the clothes in.
The cake is starting to smell delish. It's a LUMBERJACK cake. Cos I like it, and Stew ain't eating cake any more, so I don't have to cater to his taste.
Bet if it was a carrot cake he'd be lining up to eat it.
Been talking to Stew about me selling from home. An idea is starting to form. I'm starting to feel optimistic it can be done. Little bit excited. Might come to NOTHING ... but I can try right?
8.45 pm: Well I got a bit done this afternoon towards having a little 'shop' at home. I will show you tomorrow, once I've got good light for a photo or video.
Dinner tonight was lamb patties, chicken kebabs and garlic bread... totally weird dinner cos I ran out of time to do something 'proper'.
It suddenly got REALLY COLD tonight! I've got a blanket on me to keep warm.
Catch ya tomorrow.

Wow 5 already. Happy Birthday Archer. Chris are you a member of the Facebook group New Zealand Made Products? Group where you can promote and sell your products. Worth a try.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a lot of NZ followers, I would start by posting things here. Those are all people where you can mail easily or they can pick up from your porch.
ReplyDeleteIf you have online sale system, like Facebook Marketplace, in NZ, I would post there and do porch pick up.
If you have a glass front security door, you can show people more things thru the door and talk easily if they want to “see”.
You can work on birthday/xmas presents for your family perhaps.
If you are allowed, I think your tree would be a GREAT PLACE for a sign.
I have been selling things off my porch for a couple years now. Garage sale type things as I have cleaned out (my kids are 30, 26, 22). I use Facebook Marketplace. Non contact porch pick up is very useful in current circumstances. I have a cash box out there. I schedule pick ups thoughtfully.
Happy Birthday Archer 🎂🎉🎁 #5 😊

I've not done a single crafty thing, well did a bit of sewing but finding it hard to get motivated
Happy birthday to Archer. Those 5 years have seemed to go by in a flash!! Hang in there Chris.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Archer. Where have the years gone? A handsome wee fellow indeed. Takes after his Grandmother!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your lumberjack cake but with only two of us in the house it is too tempting to have around. Only lasts a couple of days.
Why are you needing to use the hand sanitiser? (you said you were sick of the smell). I've never used any yet as I don't have any but do wash my hands well when I get back from anywhere. Surely at home, as you are in lockdown, you don't need it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go out to add to the tree I use it as soon as I come back inside. Masses of people are touching my tree! Also, we use it if we go out for a walk when we return, and when we come in from grocery shopping, when I get the mail out of the letterbox... the postie has handled it so I need to use it then too. I'm expecting a parcel of wool from Spotlight today, it will be getting used after I handle that too. Pretty much any time we go outside we use it.
DeleteOK but do you know that washing your hands is much more effective than hand sanitiser? From what I've read hand sanitiser is more for when you can't wash.
DeleteSorry Chris... just trying to save your hands :) https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/show-me-the-science-hand-sanitizer.html
DeleteI was wondering the same thing. We use -0- hand sanitizer at home where we can actually wash our hands.
DeleteHow about a laminated sign both sides with some of your designs on and post it on tree Blondie
ReplyDeleteYeah I was thinking of something like a sign board outside my house, and a small set up inside the garage? Not sure yet.
DeleteHappy Birthday to Archer! You'll all be looking forward to celebrating Archer's special day when the restrictions ease.
ReplyDeleteI guess there are countless options for selling your creations .... maybe dabbling in a variety of options will increase your profile and create a future database of customers. Maybe when you are selling items, ask people if they would be happy to be emailed occasionally - that way you could highlight any new additions to your range, where to find you at markets, and how to access your items if they wish to purchase things.
I swear I can almost smell that cake!! So yummy!!
Sheesh 5 years old already Happy Birthday young man!! Yep raining here too but we desperately need it. I have been naughty and heating up feijoa loaf and adding a dollop of icecream for pudding oops. Keep your chin up Chris George's Mum.
ReplyDeletehi Chris, sorry you are in a funk!!! Do I remember you bought some beads for jewellery making? You could make little bracelets for the little girls, or add some beaded items to your tree? xxxxx
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot to say happy birthday Archer x Blondie
ReplyDeleteNail a box onto tree and pop laminated cards in for people to take!
Wow Archer has grown so much. Happy Birthday to him. Good idea about selling from home but have a sign you can put on your footpath and take in when you're not open. People get used to it.
ReplyDeleteI was only wondering yesterday if you used that area for drying, obviously you do lol
ReplyDeleteDee
Your mosquito made me laugh - made my day you did :))
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the birthday wishes. Archer had a great day playing with his new minecraft lego with dante. And he loved his chocolate cake but the best part was seeing his girls (coco and marely) on the video call. He thought that was really cool. Xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Archer. Wow time flies. Hope your spirits lift. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Archer! 5 already!
