HAD A THOUGHT...

We have a 'formal' event to attend this Thursday, here in the village.

I was tossing up between a rather colourful dress I already have, or leggings and a new white top.

ABOVE:   I really like the black/white option, BUT am terrified of dropping something on my front during dinner.  I do it ALL.  THE.  TIME.

So I've been trying to work out how I can still wear the white top, but not have to worry about spillages.

I think I've worked it out!

I will take a photo of the solution a bit later on, once it's lighter inside.  *I will be wearing black dress boots on the night, not sneakers.

Today is Craft Group, so I'm going to gather up some stuff to work on, and put it in my trolley, in readiness for later on this morning.

After I've done that, I am going online to suss out things we can do in Christchurch.

Top of the list?  Visit Sew & Co at the Tannery of course!  Fabric.  We are packing LIGHT, just in case I have to buy some fabric.  *snort*

ONWARD...

10.35 am.   I've been working on what to wear, considering all the comments re: Leggings.

First of all, here's the solution to the spillage problem:

ABOVE:  My black, pure wool cape thingee that I bought in Bellingen on the 12th of October, 2020.

I can take it off after dinner if I want to.  Still got leggings on here.

ABOVE:  Long, flowy black pants.

ABOVE:  Found these too... pants, not so flowy.

So, I still love the leggings.  But might go with the not so flowy pants yet.

And now, I'm off to Craft Group.

2.30 pm.  I came home from Craft Group a bit early today as I'm feeling a bit ikkk.

I got acid reflux badly overnight, so didn't get much sleep.  Had to literally sit upright from 10.30 pm till about 5 am!

Therefore, I'm bloody tired as F.

I did get these made in C.G. :

ABOVE:  I love using up bits n pieces of fabric which would otherwise go to waste.

Now... I'm going to have a freakin' nana nap.

7.29 pm, and NOPE, I did not have a freakin' nana nap after all.  I was so, so tired, but could not get to sleep.  So I just lay in bed with the electric blanket on and scrolled the 'net.

Coco was doing 'zoomies' up and down the hallway, having a ball.  She's so cute.

Stew arrived home and got on the exercycle.  I might a bit later on this evening, depending how I'm feeling.  I'm still feeling rather ikk.  Just over tired I reckon.

I just got a hire car sorted out for when we are  in Christchurch.  It gives us total freedom to go where we want, when we want.

I had looked into doing a day tour, to like Akaroa/Cruise on the harbour, but OMG... they want an arm and a leg and lots of $$$'s.  Just not going to do that.

We will probably wing it each day, but I do have an idea of a few places we can go.

And on that happy note... cos it's been a productive day overall... catch ya tomorrow.

  2. You look so smart. With boots it'll be perfect. That's what I love, flowing top over leggings.
I'm very interested to hear about the spillage solution. That's why I always wear dark tops with some sort of a pattern.

You look great but do you have black pants? Like dress pants? Definitely not leggings to a dress up event sorry. But I LOVE that top! xx Colleen

Hi, you could also wear a very thin light long scarf made out of silk or polyester that is what my mother always used to do and then you would still see the lovely white top...anyway, most people spill food...lol and after a wine or two no one cares...lol...Peta

Hi Chris, some ideas are - you could add interest with a long pendant or chunky necklace. On the night style your hair with long soft waves and add hair out with some volume around the face. Black and white always looks good. Enjoy the night. Cheers Glenys

  12. I like the leggings with the whole outfit and ultimately you gotta be comfy...

  13. I like the wide leg trousers. Looks more dressy if it’s a formal affair.

  14. The leggings look fine! I mean, how formal can it be? You aren't wearing a ball gown regardless. So go with the leggings!

Really like your white top, it’s beautiful and suits you. Not sure about the poncho top and the flowey pants outfit though, it makes you look rounded and short 🤷‍♀️ maybe not the poncho and as someone else suggested a colourful scarf or similar. That would look formal. Be interested to see the colourful dress option. As you have said it’s a ‘formal’ event and that can cover lots of different options; as long as you feel good, well that’s the outfit for you. Is Stew wearing a suit? If he is, I’m thinking you wouldn’t want to look too casual, so that will probably rule out legging IMO.

If you wear your hair out, that can cover any spillages!! Peta

Grab some Gavascon Duel Action and keep it handy for reflux. Also a tablet such as Nexium. That provides long term relief (24 hrs) but the Gavascon as well gives pretty much instant relief. Also, I like both those pairs of pants. They look very classy. So go with either flowy or not so flowy, they look great. And that poncho, awesome! Now add some blue jewellery and you're good to go! xx Colleen

You look lovely in all of the options but I think the flowy trousers look dressier and how about a black silk scarf or pashmina shawl to protect your frontage from spillages/dribbles?

Forgot to sign my post….i suggested flowy trousers and perhaps a black silk scarf or a pashmina to protect against spillages/dribbles. Early morning here in the UK! Wendyx

  22. I love the flowy pants Chris. Yes the white top with the flowy pants and boots looks very sophisticated as said before by others. The black wrap most certainly solve the spillage problem. No one will know you have it on to stop spillages (no Steve its not a bib )

I know it is an unpopular opinion but I love the leggings.

However wear whatever is most comfortable and your favourite outfit as then you will enjoy your night :)

Those outfits are considered business casual here. The flowy pants are the dressiest. Not formal. For everyday I love the leggings. Gigi
