ANOTHER RUNNER, ANOTHER WALK

Another 'normal' day around here.

I am going to work in Crabby Quarters this morning, making another runner top.

ABOVE: This is the first one I will be working on this morning... still keeping to the Kiwiana theme.

After lunch, once it has warmed up a bit, I'm going for a walk, probably just around the bridges/river bank.  Going to the lake takes up quite a bit of time when I go on the bus, and right now I am more invested in spending time sewing, getting my stock numbers back up.

ONWARD...

Two things have been going around in my head this morning (and overnight).

ONE.  I just can't bear the thought of the all the work and upheaval involved in getting new carpet put down.   It is just too soon after settling in here, the move here is still too fresh in my head.  So, I am cancelling the new carpet plans.  FOR NOW... maybe in a few years I will revisit that idea.  I think Stew is massively relieved, as he wasn't looking forward to all that work either.

TWO.  I will have been blogging for TWENTY YEARS, every day, without fail, this October.

Rhonda commented last night that my blog has changed, and it's more (my words) normal and mundane.  No dramas on here anymore.  I am being more private.  Of course it's due to respecting (up to a point) others privacy now.  Social media is not what it used to be.  It's not as safe.

So, here's my dilemma.  Something I've been pondering for a couple of years really.

Do I want to keep blogging past the TWENTY YEARS?  Who cares anymore if I blog or not? Am I no longer interesting enough to read?  The blog will probably get more boring as I age and can't do as much as well.

I have used my blog as an online diary of my life, my family's lives ... but family are not interested in being on here anymore, and I doubt even half of them read it now.  I think only those 'lurkers' who no longer have access to us do!

So that's something I am seriously pondering on right now.  I have four and a half months to decide.

OPINIONS WELCOME.   And don't say just blog once a week after October... I'm an all or nothing sort of person.

I stupidly gave away Stew's Angel Bay Beef Patties to Lacy the other day (as a thank you for doing my housework).  WHOOPS.

So this morning I went to the supermarket to get some replacements for him... he has them for his lunches at work.

I came away with 5 full bags of groceries, NONE of which we really needed!

And bugger me, DON'T go to the supermarket hungry!

ABOVE: Yeah, and that's not even a quarter of the evil shit I bought!

There's some lovely fresh shit in the fridge, fruit, dips, mussels for him indoors, and so on.

It wasn't ALL BAD.

ABOVE:  My lunch, a HEALTHY chicken salad.  It will be followed by a fruit tart (see above).  Maybe two. 😋😂

ABOVE: Today I made this Braid Runner top, and part of another one. I'm very happy with the progress I'm making on them.

OMG!  Look at it.  I've made a freaking dumb mistake!
I forgot the black strip around the 'inner' edge, before putting the sashings on!  Now I have to unpick the damn thing.  Grrrrr.

I went for a short walk this afternoon, nothing stellar.  Coco came with me, so that's why it was only a short walk, she's not up for long walks anymore.

9.57 pm, and I'm now watching Coronation Street before heading off to bed.
I had planned to unpick the sashings off today's runner while sitting here, but just couldn't be arsed.  I'll do it tomorrow.
And there ya go, another day done and dusted.

Do what you want to do, not what we want you to do. If you want to blog for you, as a diary, do it. Don't do it to for anyone else's entertainment. If people don't want to read it because it's "boring" that's not your problem. It shouldn't matter whether we read it or not. It's for you, not us. So do what makes you happy. xx Colleen

Agree with Colleen. I would miss your blog every day - first thing I look at every morning before getting out of bed. Would especially miss the lovely photos you take, I am useless at taking photos. It is entirely up to you though, your blog, your time and your thoughts. As for people saying it is "boring", tell them to get some fiction books from the library! Audrey

I am with Colleen on that point Chris, mundane or not, I check in now and then and add my two cents if I have any to give :-) Do it for you. Lets face it people love drama and if there is none, they move away. Theyre the ones you don't need. All our lives are boring/mundane/same old same old etc. Don't let it deter you if you want to keep going. Its a legacy that your grandies can read oneday perhaps? Now I know I would love to have read about my grans life - boring or not. Big hugs, talk soon Michele PN

  5. I read your blog several times throughout the day. I don't often comment because most have already said what I would have done! I don't find it boring. I liken it to having a chat with an old friend over the phone. Your photos are gorgeous. Your observations are amusing. Of course, it's your decision but I think a lot of people would be very sad to see you go. You are a part of our lives and it doesn't have to always be exciting or dramatic. In fact, when shit is happening in my life I find coming here grounds me and reminds me that life goes on and all will be well.

I so get your decision to shelve the new carpet for the time being! I bet Stew is relieved lol gives him more time to recover from his knee surgery. As far as blogging goes, it’s totally your decision. You have said that you and Stew will be travelling when he retires, that would be fantastic content for your blog. I love seeing people’s travel experiences. That could be a way off though. Perhaps just keep your Pepsi blog going as you are safe there and you still have your diary that way.

  7. I check your blog several times a day and will miss it if you stop. Your blog is calmer these days but your life is calmer. You have less people to run after/support and you are living ‘your’ life ❤️

I will miss your blog so much. I think it’s interesting and love reading about your creative endeavors, along with seeing all your beautiful pictures. Of course, I understand your reasons for maybe not continuing it. But, please, don’t think for even a second, it’s boring. You’re anything but boring. You bring us joy.

  11. You should see the treats I am buying for the film crew. Some things they haven't had since childhood or even... never had! Zebra cakes, twinkies, beef jerky, beef sticks, charcuterie cups, bags of cookies, bubble gum - as in the big pink chunks! Hubba Bubba, Bubble yumm. Hostess cup cakes, donuts, veggies & dip, a few healthy protein bars. And the #1 film set snack.... A giant bucket of RED VINES.

I don't read every day. I usually catch up with a week's worth at a time. I love seeing your latest patchwork stuff, and what you have done to the house. And boy have the grandkids grown! I like the mundane and boring (to use your words), and have read an awful lot of those 20 years worth of entries. I would miss my Chris-fix if you were gone, but I would never expect you to do what you are not comfortable with. Luv ya guts Chook!

I really like your blog posts as they remind me of the 2 visits to NZ that we made in the early 2000's. We visited family in Hamilton and various other places. It would be lovely to come out that way again and perhaps visit the South Island but unfortunately I can't do long haul flights anymore. Those green themed runners you've done recently are really striking by the way. As for continuing to blog, well that is really down to you, you must do what you think best :)

I would miss your blog as I have read it for many many years, but you must do you. I looked at that green runner and thought it didn’t quite look right but didn’t know why. It will be really nice with the black bit. If I had Other than a round table I would have loved to have had it. I also like reading dogstars comments on your blog. Gigi

If you feel it is time to 'retire' your blog, so be it. You would be missed but NEVER forgotten if you 'retire' your blogging. Dawn P. Albany, GA USA

  21. I would sure miss you if you stopped blogging Chris. I rarely comment but I have your blog open all the time and check back several times a day to see what you're up to. I think you were in about year 7 when I found you and I decided to read right from the beginning. When I got caught up I commented and I remember you said that you told Stew that someone was reading from the beginning and he said it must be some nutter!!! lol Well, the nutter is still here and have I enjoyed the entire story through all the different kids that have lived with you in your different homes and all the beautiful sewing you have done. Your life in New Zealand is so different from mine in Canada and that's one of the reasons I love reading about it!!Remember I suggested you get yourself an apron for your craft markets. I was never a member of Pepsi so if you stop this blog many of us will never 'see' you again. But, the bottom line is you do what is right for you! .😊

  22. I read your blog every day! I made mine private since I'm a federal working and they were making out like the Government was going to fire us for thinking anything they didn't like. One of my kids still reads it and even searched to see what kind of cake we had for a party 4 years ago lol.

  23. Everyday for another 20 years!! Boring? You? Never!!!!!
Its the first thing I look for in the morning and usually by my bedtime you've started on your next day. Your kiwi life keeps me from being homesick...... or sometimes makes it worse 🤔😅 your markets, your sewing, your shopping, your lunch, your adorable family, your weight journey, you and Stew.............. Have become part of My Life!!!!

  25. I too love reading your vlogs ... and seeing your latest creations, plus the bonus of some inspiration towards meals. I am a daily reader and wouldn't definitely miss reading if you stopped. Re the carpet ... we need new carpet but I dread the thought of moving everything too.
