Right my friends, Stew and I have a question to ask of anyone living in Brisbane.
We are going to be there from the 6th to the 12th. What do you recommend we do/see/visit while we are there?
What's a MUST DO? MUST GO to?
We will be spending some time with my sister Lorraine's daughter and grandchildren, but not all our time.
We are staying in Waterford, and will be relying on public transport and taxis.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Now, back to today. I am going to be lining up another round table runner. Very similar to the last one, but using a few more fabrics.
I'm excited to be sewing again.
I am also expecting Lacy to visit. I've asked her to come over and get up in our attic to find one of our suitcases. We will need it for our trip. I do not want Stew trying to get up there with his dickey knee.
ABOVE: I am really enjoying this puzzle. I've done the fairly 'easy' bits, now it's on to the tricky, shitty bits. lol Nothing like a challenge eh?
ABOVE: I found this photo of my new ring on the 'official' paperwork... it shows it much clearer than the one I took with my camera, which had yellow tones from the flash. I'm so excited to get it next Monday. I think I'll spend all my time while flying over to Brisbane just looking at it! 😂😅😊
Right, that's me for now.
Catch ya later.
11.25 am, and it's been a busy morning.
ABOVE: Lacy arrived and got the suitcase down from the attic, and put up the new Christmas tree. Then I had a bright idea.
I found out yesterday that we are responsible for the gardens that are under our eaves, so I decided to get weed matting, and put rocks in those gardens, with pots on top.
So...
ABOVE: Lacy and I went off to the landscaping place, and got rocks and weed matting.
ABOVE: My poor little car was heavily weighed down, but she got the job done.
ABOVE: Lacy is coming back later on in the week to make a start for me. She will get it finished while we are away I think.
ABOVE: I ordered a carry bag off TEMU, it arrived and was a bit small for the job, so I ordered this one. It's a much better size.I will use it to carry things from my car (down in it's car park) up to the house. And visa versa.
The smaller blue one will be kept in the car for groceries, fabric purchases etc.
After Lacy left, I wanted me glasses. Do you think I could find them! I hunted EVERYWHERE, and was starting to think I'd lost them somehow... ??? But knew they really had to be in the house somewhere.
ABOVE: I finally found them when I sat down to do this update! WHAT. A. TWIT. 😂😅😆
Right.. I think we might just hire a car in Brisbane. Will make it easier getting around. Thanks for all the suggestions too.
VICKI: Hiring a car/Renting a car is the same thing here and in Australia I think. You just get the car, no driver. Eeeegads, I hate to think what that would cost!
Now I'll have to be the co-pilot once we are over there, and hopefully not get us lost!
I have been sewing this afternoon, the next round table topper is coming along nicely.
It is weigh in tonight at WW, and also jab night. I'm not even feeling anxious about the jab!
Weigh in? Not sure how that will go.
Weigh in ... DOWN .7oo grms. I'm very happy with that. The 'goal' is half a kilo a week, so I'm on track. 8.4 kgs in 5 weeks.
Home, had dinner then me jab, which I'm relieved to say didn't hurt one iota.
Now we relax for the evening.
Catch ya tomorrow.
Wow. That is a beautiful ring with lots of bling.
ReplyDeleteThe background of that puzzle looks a bit daunting.
Firstly, why not hire a car? If not then download the uber app and test it out before you go. It's much easier than trying to get a taxi when travelling and you get the price of the journey before you start so no surprises.
ReplyDeleteI should add, one thing we loved while in Brisbane this year was our walk along the Southbank area. You can go up to the top of the Star building to the Sky Deck and view over the entire area. That's free to do. To be honest, any activity will depend on how much Stew can walk around though.
ReplyDeleteI would use Uber rather than taxis. Download Uber app. Marie
ReplyDeleteAgree, practice Uber at home when you are not in a hurry and know where you are going. It will give you confidence. Is there someone in the family that can go with you the first time and show you how to do the app and check the license plate?

Howard Smith Wharves is lovely!
ReplyDeleteget the train to the city, then there are free buses around the city. Southbank and galleries, and absolutely do the ferry from Southbank to new farm / Hamilton and back to west end.
ReplyDeleteI agree and you get better views from train. Is Southbank still a thing to go to? Long time since I lived there.
DeleteWaterford is half way to the Gold Coast from Brisbane. Get the train to helensvale then a bus or taxi to the beach
ReplyDeleteIf you do hire a car the Glass Mountains are spectacular - you can get there by train and bus but a hired car would be easier especially for Stew. Audrey
ReplyDeleteI agree with suggestions given but I would really hire a car for the duration of your visit. So much more freedom in terms of where you can visit and being comfortable and on your own ‘holiday time’. If you do hire a car I’d suggest day trips to the Gold Coast (south) and Noosa (north). Once you are at your accommodation I’m sure you’ll be able to research all the fabulous places you can visit.
ReplyDeleteWe have always hired a car in Brisbane ... so many places in and around to explore so we don't like being restricted by timetables 😀. We did a nice cruise down the river in Brisbane which was nice. I love the Hyperdome Mall and IKEA. The Koala Sanctuary is okay.
ReplyDeleteHaha did that with my glasses the other day. Looked everywhere and then realised they were on my head lol
ReplyDeleteI’m no help for Brisbane, I flew in once, and drove to the Gold Coast in 2018, for the Triathlon World Championships (son #1 was competing). Apart from the race, highlights were bottle feeding baby koalas at a sanctuary, and learning to surf!
ReplyDeleteGood job, Lacy!
I’m always losing my peepers…sometimes they’re actually ON MY FACE.
Hahaha on the glasses! The rock will be nice under the eaves. The ring is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRent a car here means you rent a car and drive it yourself.
ReplyDeleteHire a car means a car plus a driver who gives you tour and transportation.
???
Vickie
My great niece is visiting from Brisbane she said botanic gardens and a must EAT ST!
ReplyDeleteI do that with my glasses all the time.
Your eyebrows look great I must say.
Ohhhh you could add some rusty bits to your garden!
You could try Lone Pine Sanctuary (the koala sanctuary) or something. Or take a drive a couple hours north to Australia Zoo. I guess you could go to DFO - it's not far from the airport too. xx Colleen
ReplyDeleteI would book a hire car now before you leave NZ to try and get what you require, don’t want to arrive and all that’s available is a massive 4WD or a people mover. Marie
ReplyDeleteI would recommend East Coast Car Rentals ... great to deal with. Have used them a number of times. They pick you up from the airport ... their office is nearby. Good modern cars.
ReplyDeleteDon’t drive a car if you go into Southbank / city. Just use the car to go to the train station. 50 cent fares using your card.
ReplyDeletePublic transport is only 50c and you can just swipe on and off so is very reasonable! A car would be great though. Go for a drive to Wynnum waterfront and also Redcliffe waterfront both pretty areas and both have markets. Southbank is great, the museum there also. Howard Smith Wharves is a lovely area with lots of restaurants. There are so many nice walks along the river in the city and so many cool pedestrians bridges linking the city to Southbank. Go for a drive up to Mt Coot-tha lookout and grab an icecream. Then you can go to botanic gardens at the bottom of Mt Coot-tha and look at the gorgeous Japanese garden. Can even do a little bush walk. I know you love to shop so Grand Plaza at Browns Plains is fairly close to you but go to Westfield Mt Gravatt for a huge shopping centre, also grab some Yo Chi (frozen yoghurt and pick your own toppings) and Kinn Thai is also delicious there. In the city go into city hall and go up the Museum of Brisbane, they have a great little gift shop. You can also do a free tour of the clock tower in city hall for great views. Also in the city go to Roma Street Parklands, they are beautiful at the moment with all the flowers in bloom. Some great coffee shops if you find yourself near these areas - Farmhouse at Kedron, Piggyback cafe at Jindalee, Little Dreamers at Calamvale, Tom’s Kitchen at West End. Also Lone Pine Koala sanctuary if you want to see wallabies and hold a koala. If I think of anything else I’ll let you know 😂 Nicrunninggirl
ReplyDeleteAlready thought of one more thing. Fo for a drive up to Tamborine Mountain. It is not too far from where you are staying. Park near the main street and walk up and down. Different little shops with interesting things, cuckoo clocks and souvenir type things, fudge etc. such a quaint little street and you can have lunch up there and do a waterfall walk as well. It is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteMarvellous all around. Go Lacey! That ring is beautiful. You're going to spend all your day admiring it on your finger.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great loss....how do you manage to diet so well, I am so jealous....lol...Peta
ReplyDeleteIt's called sheer determination.
DeleteAnother great loss Chris go you,!!
