OFF DOWN THE LINE

Well here we go.  Off to Palmerston North for three days.  We will be catching up with Mike and Joyce for dinner tonight.

I'm hoping the weather is nice for our trip, and it's not too icy through the Desert Road.  I really don't like travelling down that way in winter, but needs must.

It is our first time leaving the Village for a few days.  We don't have to worry about a thing here.  The Security team do nightly drive byes,  several times a night.  When you go away, you let the staff know, and they make sure to check your home for any signs of disturbance as well. It is FANTASTIC.  Lock and Leave at it's best.

I will update somewhere along the line... catch ya later.

...

ABOVE:  7.50 and we are on the road.  VERY cold this morning... but dry.

ABOVE... for you Sharon. Got one more, hold on ...

ABOVE: It's a glorious day for travelling.  Looks like we will get some good mountain photos too.
We just stopped at Waiouru for piddles. OMG those loos were FREEZING.
Next stop will be...Fox's Cottage in Foxton. They are open until 3pm. So umm... why not? Lol  I love that fabric shop.

3 pm:  ABOVE: The weather gods were on our side, and we had gorgeous views of the mountains today.
That is Mt Ngauruhoe.  (thanks for correcting me Lynda)

ABOVE:  Mt Ruapehu looking stunning.

ABOVE:  Looking over the Manawatu and the Ruahine Ranges.
We arrived in Foxton with PLENTY of time for a bit of fabric shopping, before they closed at 3 pm.
We are now waiting for Mike and Joyce to call in ... then we will be off to dinner a bit later.

ABOVE: The fabric haul from Foxton.  THAT was fun.

ABOVE:  Dinners... I had Cheese Balls and Calamari.  Stew had Steak and traditional sides.  Mike and Joyce had Steak and Eggs, with garlic butter.
I totally forgot to take any photos of the kids!  How remiss of me.  I'll get some tomorrow.
Now?  Chill out in the bed, watch some TV and then sleep.
Catch ya tomorrow.

  10. I think your mountains are mixed up... the pointy one is Mt Ngauruhoe and the flatter one is Mt Tongariro. What a lovely day to see the mountains.
