DOCTOR

Today?  Keera's last day of kindy for the year.  I think she finishes at lunchtime... better check that!

It's supposed to be another stinking hot day here... Something tells me I will be staying inside with the air con on!

Well... that is, AFTER I can get to the Doctor's.  I am NOT going to be sick over the Christmas period if I can help it.

BLONDIE:  I read your comment last night and that prompted me to go to the Doctor and see what they could give me.  I am so over the cough, cough, vomit cycle!

ONWARD...

Yaaa... I've got an appointment at the Dr's in half an hour.  I'm so impressed that you can get an appointment on the day you ring up!
No having to wait till tomorrow or the next day.

So, I get to the Dr's and I tell her about my cough, and ask her can she give me somthing to stop it?

She replied straight up with 'NO'!
No bullshitting, she was like, nope.  There is nothing I can give you to stop the cough.

Finally!  A Doctor that doesn't lie, doesn't fob you off with medications that won't work.  Just a simple no.

Amazing.  Seems I just have to put up with it.  She gave me some antihistamines that MIGHT help alleviate some of the background things causing the cough, like the snot.  But that's about it!

So, fingers crossed that this cough doesn't linger for weeks or worse, months.

After being at the Doctors, I did a little grocery shop and came home.  Had lunch and then fell asleep.
That's what happens when you have been coughing and vomiting half the bloody night long.

Luckily, both kids did some housework for me... so the washing is hung out and the bathroom is clean.

In an hour or so I will go and collect Keera from Kindy, then it's HOLIDAY TIME for all the kids.  Stew finishes work on Friday, and he has about 2 weeks off too.

Well Miss Muppet got home from kindy, had some afternoon tea then had a nap.  For 4 hours.

Then dinner.... Kransky sausages, cauliflower cheese, steamed veges and wedges.  Delicious.

Winding down... steaming hot, got the air con on so I don't have a melt down.

Thank god for Gees Linctus!  It's holding off the cough a bit.  I even had a couple of hours today with NO COUGH at all!

Maybe I can sleep in my own bed tonight?  Might be nice.

  1. I've had bronchitis now for two weeks. Never bad enough (in my opinion) to see the doctor and it's all but gone now. If yours is as bad as you say then you definitely should get sorted so its good you are going to the doctor. I hope you get well soon.

  2. Chris did she check that it's not asthma. My 52 year old sister had a persistent cough for two weeks and has just been diagnosed with asthma, first time she has ever had it.

  5. From what I read up about bronchitis, it can last around 2 weeks. The main thing to watch for is worsening (pneumonia). Also remember you don't want to suppress the cough if it's "productive" ie phlegm. You want to take an expectorant that will loosen the phlegm and bring it up. I too can always get an appointment on the same day I phone (or book online). Today is the first day in two weeks that I really feel that I'm on the mend!

Do you have Robitussin CF (cough formula) there? My cough goes from earth-shaking to "eh, eh" when I take that. It's OTC, as 'over the counter, no Rx needed' here in the USA.

    Wishing you well!

  7. Just curious Chris, but have any of your doctors ever explored the possibility of asthma? I got asthma as an adult, and mine doesn't so much present as breeziness - but rather as a lot of coughing and sometimes coughing so much that I do vomit. I notice my cough usually lasts for several weeks at time - and often is when the weather is changing - i.e. on the change of seasons, or if we've had some mild days, then get a particularly hot, humid day, or a particularly cold day. Just a thought! Inhalers have certainly made life better - not cured it, but not as bad as it used to be.

    2. I have been given an inhaler too, just in case it can help. I am not sure about the asthma? Who knows. Whatever works now is all I care about!

Well that's a start towards no coughing or less coughing, Asthma inhalers preventers and relievers work 2 ways open opens the airways to allow the other to work, when we breathe shallow or less oxygen Co2 builds up we lay down at night and cough our guts out! I use nose spray loratabs cough expectorant and alike this time of year is notorious for pollen dust season change and coughs of course I do hope you get some relief soon.
