OFF TO TOWN

This morning we are heading into town... Griffin is attending a friend's birthday party in Hamilton.  We will drop  him off then do our own thing till it's time to pick him up again.

At some point we will have to do a grocery shop.  Maybe this afternoon I will do it and then the family can help put it all away.

The weather is supposed to pack it in and be wet, so we might not get the one job done outside that's on me list.

I want to move the maple tree that's outside the kitchen window, to over in the dog's area.  It will provide summer shade for them, AND stop the neighbours little kids from sitting on the back brick fence over by the dogs.  They sit on the brick wall and dangle and wave their feet at the dogs and I am scared stiff Tallulah will bite them in frustration.

They are teasing her a lot.  I've asked them to stop, but hey, they are kids! Since when do kids do as they are told?  Well, these ones don't, that's for sure.

I don't want to complain to their parents and end up off-side with our neighbours.  So maybe putting the tree right in front of the brick fence will stop them?  I hope so anyway.

ONWARD...

4.52: And we have been out and come home again.
Griffin had a nice time with his mates at 'Jump' and McDonald's.

Stew, Brylee, Keera and I went and bought this:

ABOVE:  The beach shelter was just too big! Heather:  we had the same idea  *smiles*
We had a lovely lunch at Chartwell Square, then Griffin met up with us and we went home.

My upper back, between my shoulder blades started to hurt while we were out, so I went to bed with some hot wheat packs.

Woke up around 4 and went to see what Stew had been up to:

ABOVE:  I was in time to see him wrestling with the maple tree... but eventually he and Griffin managed to move it into it's new position.

ABOVE:  We realise now that it probably won't stop the neighbour's kids from harassing the dogs.

It's a work in progress.  I will find a way, hopefully before they get bitten.

Twice in the past couple of years, my back has gone into spasm, OH MY GOD so painful!
Did it again just before... but this time, unlike the last two times, in a totally different area of my back.

I can't move or even breath without pain.  It's so frustrating!  And I have no idea WHY it's happened.

Luckily, I have a couple of Tramadol left over from the last time.  I've taken one and now await the relief.

Thank goodness for drugs!  The tramadol has been working for several hours now.  Hopefully I will wake up tomorrow and the pain will be gone.  I live in hope.

Time to call it a day.  Stew did well today, he's such a hard worker.  I did bugger all and feel stink about that, but back pain cannot be ignored.

    Hi
They might climb in the tree as it grows...I would put a wire fence in between the other fence and the tree when you plant it..to keep them from being able to touch the dogs..and you could tell their parents that you are concerned they could get a bite if they dangle their legs on your property...better to warn than get trouble if it did happen..you could invite them over to pat the dogs under supervision ? annoying situation..

  4. Patting Tallulah would most likely invoke a nip from her. She doesn't like strangers too much. I will talk to the children's parents I think.

  5. Yes, love the idea of a tree there but NOT to stop kids. You need to take a different measure for that including talking to their parents. It need not be confrontational, just concerned. I would also put something else up so the dogs are not close to that fence. You simply can't take the risk of your dog biting anyone.

.... not that I no anything of that but yea maybe expressing your concern to the parents re the kids being 'kids lol' and hay if it were me in your situation I'd feel EXACTLY the same.... do your brats torment their piece and quiet lol *please take that with an open mind Ma lol
if kids get nipped dogs get out down when it was in fact kids trying to get a reaction out of dog or whatever, and the parents obviously no you have dogs and still let kids play on fence where they no the dogs play.... so hmmmmm.... neighbour's are Muppets.

  7. Some grid wire fencing or netting to support vines you are growing on your side would be nice.

  12. I think a tiny little barrier between tree and fence is a good idea so the dogs can not get at their toes. It could be utilitarian like a fence, or cute like a row of pretty pots or some other clever thing.

A nice piece of lattice with a creeping vine/Bogainvillia or passion fruit vine on it to give a background for the maple tree and block the kids legs.

Lattice fence with vine slightly ahead of brick wall by an inch or barb wire works for me too! Nice tree though I was thinking about your backyard what about 2 ginormous palm trees for shade? by the BBQ like 1 either side? It's me blondie
