PATCHWORK GET TOGETHER

So, today is Patchwork 'class' again.

It's not really a class, it's more of a friendly gathering as opposed to a class.

But, it's nice because it's a way of getting to know people in our new home town.

I am seriously thinking of joining a Hamilton Group too... at Donna's Quilt Studio.  I will be checking that out this week I think.
I went to a Saturday class there last year and loved it... so it's high on my 'to do' list.

After class I might just go down to Mitre 10 for some STUFF.  I want to make a design wall in my sewing room.  I had just got one in Auckland when we put the house on the market!  How typical eh?

So, I want one here.  Maybe Lacy can help me do it?  She's pretty good at turning her hand to things like that.  I'm thinking of doing it in a different way to the one in Auckland.

Another thing I want to do today is list my Horn Cutting/Sewing Table for sale.  I just don't have the room for it in my room, and as I have a HUGE kitchen bench that I can use now, I don't need it.

Well, that's all for now I suppose.  I'll come back later with some more to yabber on about.
For sure, you know I will!  *smiles*

ONWARD...

12.40 pm:  I got a phone call at 9 am from my neighbour 'A'.  Our patchwork group were doing a sew in today.  Sewing blocks for charity.  So I had to take my sewing machine.

Which was neat, as almost all the ladies brought their's, lots of good work got done.

ABOVE:  I chose to do a really simple job, no complicated block for me.  Until I feel I am really good at doing points perfectly every time, I will stick to easy in the group!  I'm not the only one who isn't that confident with complicated blocks, thankfully.

Now... time to pop down to Mitre 10 and get some wood for me design wall.
When I get home I shall work on that.

Lacy is coming with me ... she's in a much better mood today than yesterday... thank god!  Yesterday she was an unbearable, moody bitch!

Today?  She's vacumed the house, hung out washing and has a smile on her dial.  There's hope for her yet.  *smiles*

ABOVE:  I have a snazzy new staple gun.  I love tools and handy dandy things like that!

ABOVE: Lacy stapling the calico to the wooden batten. See how handy my kitchen bench is?  I'm in heaven.

4.11 pm:  Spent the afternoon making the calico drop cloths with wooden battens top and bottom, only to find there's no wood behind the wall right at the top under the architraves or above the skirting board.  BUGGER.

Now put it in the too hard basket and will leave it up to Steve this coming weekend.  I'm cross cos I really wanted to do it myself and then be using it NOW.  Like NOW.  I'm so sick of waiting for shit to get done.  *sigh*

I am clearly not a patient person.

Lacy has gone into Hamilton to visit with Keera, the kids just got home from school, and I'm starving!  Forgot lunch.  I'm making chicken and bacon Rice Risotto for dinner, a family favourite now days.  I might as well just wait till dinnertime now to eat.

11.01 pm:  Dinner was lovely.  We've had a quiet evening... just doing odd jobs and watching TV.
It's starting to feel cold, which means we are going to have another frost tomorrow morning.
Brrrrrr.

Maybe one of the quilt ladies or sewing ladies might buy it? Once you get back into the swing of things you will be churning the blocks out I'm sure. We have a stunning day here suns out and that makes for a smile on anyones face (after snow and sleet!) It's me Blondie.

  2. What a fantastic kitchen you have. I am jealous!!! Hey one thing I was going to ask. Where have you got your Britto setup and can we have a pic of your collection.....there was one I admired, and my local store sells them. That way I can show them a pic of the one I mean.

  4. Sounds like a good day of sewing. Simple blocks are great for charity quilts as they sew up quickly. I can imagine the group at Donna's will be a great one-modern feel, great shop to be in. Bugga aboout the design wall.
