MID WEEK HUMP

Last week if you'd asked me what day it was, I would have had no idea! That week flew by.

This week?  Nah.  It's dragging.

It's mid week and I feel like I've done nothing at all.
Housework.  Pottering around the house, and bugger all else.

Feeling a bit 'meh'.  Looking forward to the weekend, when Steve, Bex and the boys arrive.  That will be when our little Hobbit Playhouse will get assembled.  And more importantly, it will GET OUT of my sewing room!

I can't wait till my sewing room is no longer the dumping ground.

ABOVE: I'm still working on the bloody number sign!
The numbers are not affixed yet.  I'm playing around with blue glass pretties.  And I have to drill the holes in the top to attach it to the doo dacky above.  But ... it will get done and put up THIS WEEKEND.

Do you think it's better than the 1st attempt?  Just plain rectangular, no black border.  Just the blue pretty at the bottom?

I think Lacy and I will go into Hamilton today, just to blow some cobwebs and crabbiness away.
Shopping is great as a de-stressor eh? *smiles*

ONWARD...

Soooooo.... On our way into Hamilton, I decided to go to... Morrinsville.  Just because I can.

ABOVE:  I wanted to check out Wright's Fabrics again.
Milton Wright has the best selection of Batiks in the country!
I drool openly in his shop.  *smiles*

ABOVE: That's Milton.  I told him I'd put him on my blog, free advertising!  And oh... look above his head and to the left a little!

That's one of my coasters!  I gave it to him a few years ago, and he's had it displayed in his shop ever since.  How cool!

ABOVE:  I wonder who did that for him? Wasn't me.  But it's cute.

ABOVE:  I got these fabrics from him... really lovely, funky colours.  The one on the right is for my new Dresden Plate Quilt... which I haven't even started yet.

After Morrinsville, we went the 'back' way to Gordonton and stopped and looking in a craft shop... but the only thing I loved was almost $2,000, so I left it there.

ABOVE: Lacy bought these bits 'n' bobs in David's Emporium, for Keera.

And that's our day trip done.  Lacy has now gone out for a drive... to Tauranga I THINK.

Had a quiet afternoon, which was nice.  Feeling really, really crabby about stuff that is out of my hands, yet I get dragged into the middle of shit.  Grrrrr.  Sometimes I wish I wasn't soft.

  5. Shopping is always a great way to lift spirits. I like the second attempt and I would put the blue on it as you have it. Have a good day out and about.

  9. I'm in the minority. I like a border. But it's your sign, and you get to make the choice!

I would just put blue pretties on the fancy part (like on the scroll part) and leave the bottom blank? I have hump day blues too.... in quite a funk this week ad it is only Wednesday. It's me Blondie

  14. I've been thinking while I've been doing housework. I need to get a life!!! If you think the sign is to plain why not buy some blue glass beads from Bunnings aand glue them around the edge to on top not sides. This will give you a border and finish it.

  15. Is that section with the numbers on too wide/big? How will it hang when it's the same width as the top part? I would think it should be slightly smaller so it hangs within the post and top thingy. Do you get what I mean? Otherwise it looks great.. I love those numbers!

    1. Shit you are right! I will have to narrow it down so it's a little shorter width ways so it swings/hangs properly. Thanks!

    Hi

Do you have numbers on both sides of the sign or can it only be seen from the front ?

    1. Numbers are only on the one side, as our road is a dead end road, so anyone looking for our house would only be coming from one direction.

  18. I like this sign, the only thing i "might" change is the numbers. I truly like your numbers. But as you are trying to find the driveway in the dark - I was wondering about "reflective " numbers that will show brightly in the headlights. Or maybe that would be obnoxious, just an idea, However, I am certain the numbers that you have will be more classy than any reflective ones.

    1. I will be having some reflective tape on the pole that the numbers are on. I am hoping the numbers will show in the dark?

  19. Your sign is perfect now. Jealous about your visit to Miltons shop and just love the fabrics you bought. Gorgeous. Take care of yourself first Chris.
