MORE PAINTING, THEN STAGING

This morning I shall be making a start on another exterior wall of the house... hopefully getting at least two walls done today.

That should take care of the morning.

After lunch I am expecting the house stager to arrive with her furniture and odds 'n' ends.

I shall take photos after it's done.  Hopefully the couch in the lounge is comfortable cos we have been rather uncomfortable sitting on the floor/dining chairs/computer chair!

Stew has a late start today as he has a meeting to attend before heading down to Hamilton. So he can sleep in for a little while.

Right, I am off to get me old painting dags on and make a start on yet more painting.  Will it ever end?

ONWARD...

Today is Dante's first day at Kindy.  The FIRST time he's ever been left at a pre-school.  It has gone as expected.

He's screaming and crying.
Bex is bawling her eyes out.  edit:  that's what STEVE said!  She wasn't bawling, just a bit upset.

Hopefully Dante settles down shortly and starts to enjoy himself.  Shit I hope so!

Steve is coming around soon to paint the very top of the house where I can't reach.  Well I CAN reach it if I stand on the top of the big ladder... but I get dizzy and the last thing I want is to have another fall.  So, he's coming around to do that bit for me.  He's a bloody godsend and we are very lucky he's been available to help over the past few months.

Dammit.  I was on a roll with the painting... and then it clouded over and started to drizzle.  So down brush and stuck inside watching the sky.
*sigh*

I reckon if the weather holds I will have 90% of this house painted by Saturday, and that will only leave the very high bits for Stew to do on Saturday.  Excited about that... cos the painting is making the house look fantastic.  Wish I'd done it sooner now.

But, we had no idea it would only cost a few hundred bucks for the paint!  Hindsight eh?

OMG it's been crazy here.  The house stagers came, and did some magic!

 ABOVE:  BEFORE...

ABOVE:  AFTER!
The only 'art' they had to provide was the flower picture above the fireplace.  And I love it so much they are going to give it to me... for half price.  Cos nothing is for free!  But I love it.  And it's now mine.  *smiles*

ABOVE:  They suggested I get a plant to cover the wire to the lights in the fireplace, so I raced out and got two.... plus the pots.
The house stager lady loved them.

FAMILY ROOM:

ABOVE:  BEFORE...

ABOVE:  And AFTER.

It was my decision to go with orange cushions!  Amazingly they were to only ones that 'went' well there.
The couch and cushions were the only things they had to provide for this room.

In the bedrooms they provided lots of European cushions for the beds, but that was all.

So it's done.  What do ya think???

Every fibre of my being is aching tonight.  I'm off to bed.

I am glad you have Steve to help out. That is really nice. Poor Bex, I imagine leaving Dante when he was unhappy was sooo hard. It will be interesting to get the report when he gets picked up again. Did he settle down and have a fun day? Sure hope so! I don't know how you always have the right color pain for these touch up jobs. I am sure I would leave giant splotches on my wall if I tried. Maybe not. I sure hope you have quick success with the restaging and new realtor. I know you are ready to be done monkeying with this house and ready to start finding your new house. Then the fun starts when you can decorate the new place! I admire all the work you have done. It should pay off!

Steve isn't able to work, but he can climb high ladders to paint and spend a day moving heavy furniture? I hope his boss and coworkers don't read your blog and see the pictures you've posted over the past week!

    1. My return to work is governed by ACC, and doing some painting and lifting etc is good for my recovery, but there is no way I could do it all day every day yet. My boss is fully aware of me doing all of these things as I keep in regular contact with him, and he is happy that I am being active and trying to get back to full strength. It's not a matter of what I can or can't do,its a matter of how long I can do it for, and how often I can do it. I'm not 100% yet, but the more I try the better I get, and until I get back to 100% it would be too much of a health and safety risk for me to return to a proper building site. So with all that said and done you don't need to concern yourself with my doings any longer.

  4. Cathy C who are you to judge ? My husband could have done all that when he was off work but due to swelling resulting from surgery he was unable to get his boot on therefore unable to go on site. Even after 3 years he can have bad days

  8. The house looks lovely. It might not be "you" exactly but it does look bigger and airier. And still full of colour.

    Nicely put, young Steve!

  9. Definitely looking good without the dark furniture so that's a positive! ! Best of luck with the open homes etc.

  10. She didn't have to change much then - I am surprised at what a difference the lighter furniture makes. I love the way that it still reflects your love of bright colours and brings in some of your favourite pieces. Fingers crossed that this does the trick. Oh, and good response, Steve!

  11. I don't know what I think, I think the lighter furniture may be good but the ones they have chosen are a bit, well - blah. Thank goodness for your bits & pieces because they are what makes the room look good. I hope the couches are comfortable anyway :-)

  13. I think the colour pops are great and yes the rooms do look bigger I like it too and can only hope a positive outcome ensues. Hope Dante wasn't too fazed by being at kindy by himself.

    And……well said Steve.

  15. Love it! Spacious with pops of color. Funny how small things like switching out the table the TV stands on in the family room from a white wooden table to a "see through" table makes such a difference. You've done very well.

  16. I like both the before and after. Love your use of colour.

  17. It looks really pretty with the lighter colors. I just love the flower picture too! It goes so well with your other big pictures. Fingers crossed the right person comes along. I know you want to get on with your life!

  18. It looks beautiful and I hope you have a quick sale. Those light colors lack the comfort and practicality of your own pieces, so I hope you don't need to live with them too long.

  19. I hope this works to sell it faster, I think it looks fantastic!

  21. I just about missed the house staging photos! Glad I scrolled down. It looks good. I am very glad your funk and pizzazz still show through! At least you have furniture to sit on for now! It shall be very interesting to see the effect all of this has on a sale! I am wishing you good luck - you have worked so hard and that house is flawless!

  22. Hmmm... honestly? The way you had it before was more comfy looking but I can see why when I look at the pics they did what they did. Makes the eye go round the room more.
