HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE, PATCHWORK, SHOT PUT AND DISCUS!

HAPPY BIRTDAY MIKE!
Your Dad and I hope you have a lovely day.

Today?  Patchwork class.  I've hardly done any sewing at all for over a week!
So much other stuff to do, sort out around here lately.
And I've been feeling really tired for some reason.  Not sleeping that well could be a part of it, and the fact that I've still got a bit of a cough, after 4 months I hope it stops eventually!  It's so annoying.

It's Friday... gotta love Fridays.   Griffin is doing sport all day, he's representing his school in Shot Put and Discus in the Central Counties Athletics Day, being held at Maraetai.   I'm sure he will have a blast and do his best.

Still have not heard from B re: Teddy.  I hope all is well.  I may give her a ring later on today just to find out how he is doing.  I don't want to 'bug' her, but I am concerned and want to know that he's OK.

So... that's me for the morning. I will bugger off now and get dressed, get me face on etc, and go to class.

ONWARD...

ABOVE:  Well it took 2 hours to  do this... and there's several stuff ups, as you can see!
Obviously my pattern wasn't precise.  So, I'm using this block as a pure "Learn how to do it" practise piece.
The next one will be better I hope.

Ngaire, the shop owner gave us some news today.
She is selling the shop and moving to Te Aroha!
So, next year there will be no more classes there.  That sucks.

The shop in Papakura where I used to go to classes is downsizing, and she isn't doing classes as from next year either.

So, I have to look for a new class to attend.  *sigh*

Such a shame, as I really like the ladies in my present class.

After class today, I went to the supermarket and chemist in Manurewa.
I asked the butcher in the New World for a BIG piece of Pork Belly... and he got me a BIG piece, and he scored it for me as well.

Nice man.
Got home to a grumpy Bex:

ABOVE: She's really tired, and Dante refuses to go to bed.  Ahhh, the joys of parenting a toddler while being pregnant.  What fun, I can still remember it.

It's now almost 2 pm and I'm going to find me some lunch...

Lunch done and dusted.
Dante finally had a nap, so did Bex.

Dinner tonight will be Home made Chicken burgers, followed by Lemon/Blueberry/Custard Pies ... again, home made.

I've spent a good deal of time crumbing pieces of chicken ready to cook for the burgers.
Bex is going to get the salad components ready for me.
I bought some really lovely Turkish Pockets for the burgers, they look gorgeous.

LYNDA:  I don't think I could set up a Patchwork group.  I'd rather just find a new group.

Just spoke to B about Teddy.  Might leave that conversation till tomorrow to discuss.  Very busy right now cooking chicken for dinner.

Well, dinner went down very well.  Huge burgers!
Amazing pies:

ABOVE:  Lemon and Blueberry pies.  I just made the lemon filling part of a Lemon Meringue Pie then rolled out Flaky pastry and made pies.
They were delicious, really tart, just how I love a fruit pie.

End of Day:  Quite a long day, don't seem to have got much done, but oh well... bedtime, I'm tired.
nite nite

  4. Go Griffin!!! Have you thought about enrolling him in a club where he can do more of this stuff?

  5. Start your own class - you already know the ladies so I'm sure you could do it at your place or swap around different houses?

I was going to suggest the same as Lynda. My mum does a quilting 'class' but really it's a group of ladies who meet at a community hall and do their sewing. They all help each other out but there's no one 'teacher.' Anyway, she loves it, so worth considering. Liz

  7. Sounds like a good day even if it wasn't all that exciting :)

  8. Better yet, I think you should BUY the quilting store and run it yourself. Someone needs to keep these little shops open! Then you could have your own classes in your own shop.

  9. Yes Chris-Buy the shop!!! Such a shame she is selling when you have a group you enjoy attending. Will it remain a quilt shop? I was having a chat to the owner of the shop here and she said the group here is a nice group but unfortunately it is on the same morning as ladies golf. Bugga but she did say I can just go and 'hang out' any time I like.
