BROWN ON TOP

Last night's rare dessert... was a bit brown on top... but utterly delicious!

I forgot to take a photo until it was served up... but there was plenty left for today.  Steve wants some when he gets home from work... as he didn't have any last night.

ABOVE:  I don't think I'll wait years to make another one somehow.  Though next time I'll make the base and filling thicker I think.  Still was an awesome pie.

Today?  No plans.  Might do some more little pinwheel blocks like yesterday.  And some housework.

Then tonight Stew and I are going out to our friends, Marty and Jacqui's Moving Party.  They are off to live in Tauranga.  Marty got a new job over there.  We shall miss them, but then again... we can now go and STAY with them in Tauranga.  Yaaaa.... wonder if they know that yet?  dumm deee dooo....

Right, I'm off to make a start on this lovely day... it's ELECTION DAY here in New Zealand... so Stew and I will also be popping down to the local polling station to cast our votes.

ONWARD...

Well we did our duty and voted, then went over to Sylvia Park and had a very nice lunch at Garrisons, then we took a tiki tour around Redoubt Road .... some very nice homes down the extreme end.
Just home and I'm going to have a nana nap so I can enjoy going out tonight.

I don't know WHY I am always so tired in the afternoon?

Clearly a quiet blog day for me.

Stew and I spent a few very nice hours with our friends Marty and Jacqui tonight, we enjoyed watching the Election results as they came in and were all delighted with the result.

End of Day:  very late here, almost 1 am and I'm heading off to bed.  We just had a hail storm and it's really cold.
nite nite

  1. I'm not sure what recipe you use the the best ever in the entire world is the condensed milk recipe. Easy as and delicious beyond words. I don't usually promote deserts but this one is an exception!! http://www.bakers-corner.com.au/recipes/pies-and-tarts/lemon-meringue-pie/

  3. Yummy...Lemon Meringue pie :-) In answer to what I'm doing with all them tomatoes...preserving, freezing and dehydrating. I just picked a whole lot more, so have pulled out my trusty Edmonds Cookbook and am making the Tomato Chutney and Tomato Sauce from Pg 208 :-)

  4. By golly gosh Chris......you are so talented. That lighthouse is just awesome. I'm sure Anne will be amazed at how much it resembles the picture.....I know I am :) well done.. Maybe one day I'll get cheeky enough to ask you to make one of our water tower. It's the one thing we see coming into town and for us it means home :) funny how things have different meanings for different folks.
That pie looked awesome too. I have one I make in the microwave :)
