OFF TO MEET A STRANGER... SORTA

This morning I am going to have morning tea with a girl I have never met before.... but she is someone who I kinda know.

Kate has been reading and commenting on my blog for a couple of years at least, and we are finally going to meet each other 'in the flesh'.

I always feel a bit nervous about meeting someone who knows so much about ME, yet I know very little about her.  Hell, I will be surprised if I even recognise her!!!  I've only seen a couple of photos of her on Facebook...

So... I will let ya all know how it goes when I get back!

Yep, and when I get back it will be 'do the bloody housework' day.  Oh JOY.

The only other thing I want to do today is read some of the 500+ blog posts I have not caught up on!  Yikes....

The meeting with Kate went really, really well!  We got on just fine.   When meeting a person for the first time, just be yourself... it works for me.  I've yet to meet anyone who takes a dislike to me!

We popped over to Spotlight... I was looking for more of that brown flowery fabric... they didn't have any... but ALL PATCHWORK fabric was on sale... HALF PRICE!  Awesome.... got more:

Then we went over to David's Emporium where I got just a few more bits and bobs.... we spent a good hour and half 'shopping'.... what fun.

OH and I am using one of the CUTE bags as my own... and I have had to 'show and tell' about it to quite a few people in the last couple of days.  Everyone who see's it thinks it's totally  COOL!
Maybe I need to make heaps and try selling them at a market???

After lunch I said to Stew "How about we go to Spotlight in Panmure?"... thinking I might be lucky enough to find some more of the brown flower fabric there... AND WE DID (even though it wasn't on sale at that Spotlight store).  AND I found more of the Beach Bum ladies fabric too!   I AM THRILLED TO BITS:

ABOVE:  it really is a case of 'If you see it and want it... BUY IT RIGHT THEN...' cos you never know if you will ever see it again.

After my 'fabric' spluge this weekend I doubt I will need to buy any more fabric for a while.

It's just the most gorgeous summery day out there today too... makes your spirits lift for sure.

End of Day:  I forced myself to get out of the sewing room and park me bum on my lounge chair and read blogs tonight... I managed to read about 150 and  leave comments on most of them!  I think I did well..... even though I had to leave the 'last' 458 .... and I doubt I will go back to them!   Off to bed shortly, just watching Mr. & Mrs Smith on the Telly... I love Brad Pitt... *drool*. lol  nite nite.

  1. Hi Chris, I won't be to worried, Kate's been reading and commenting this long and she still there, so you will get on like a house on fire. I meet a lady from England visiting her daughter in Sydney for 3 months, we had a lovely day and will stay friends forever. She comes over every December.
Have a great day, bummer about the housework.

  7. I am SOOOO nervous about meeting people. I am afraid they'll have a certain view of me just because they've read my blog. I had one friend from church ask if I never had any problems because it looked like my life was perfect....
Bwahahahaha!!!! It's just I don't poor out all of my life on there. I have a good life, yes, but I don't dump on there. Although... it would be kind of nice sometimes. Heh heh.

It was an awesome time... we got on well (I thought!) and you are SO clever!! I got to see one of the bags IN THE FLESH and it was so awesome.... you are one clever lady that's for sure - and of course, I have come home SO motivated to dust off the sewing machine.... only a few weeks to go before I'm part time which HOPEFULLY will mean a bit more "me" time....

Paige and I are now covered in our tattoos! ha ha!

Great to meet you and we'll have to do it again one day soon.

  12. I love meeting new people, especially when you share in interest in something.

Love the new material too! Fabulous!

I only iron the pillow cases because I love sliding into clean sheets, after I have had a shower, clean pyjamas, crisp pillowcases..aaaahh.

But then, I'm probably a little strange that way :-)

  13. When I sell at craft markets, I've had people come up to me behaving like they know me really well becos they read my blog BUT I don't know them either becos they don't comment or I don't know what they look like in person. It can be really weird but I try to be cool.

  14. It kind of freaks me out when I see a weirdo is reading my blog (just saw one that was "following" and all they had was sex stuff on their site). Guess that's a little reminder that there are crazy people out there and we should be careful!

Are you still selling cards at the shops?

    JULIE: I hope you aren't implying I'm a "WEIRDO"?????!!!!!

    Haa!!!

  18. You are officially "nuts!!!" reading so many blogs. Oh and I thing the idea about making stuff for a market is fantastic. I was thinking maybe the Clevedon Farmer's market or there is a Pokeno market. Seriously - you need to make these bags in baby colours and market them to the new baby market - maybe on Trademe??

  20. Meeting "almost" strangers can be so fun! I hope you had a blast.

I am starting to think that I should just pay you to make me a "stay open" bag. How much would you charge?

I think it's fun meeting new people. I've only met one of my bloggers. She lived an hour away. It was Sherri from "small farm girl". She lives in Kentucky and I live in West Virginia, but we live close! She was really nice and so funny! Love your material. The Beach Ladies are a riot! I couldn't keep up with that many blogs! lol...debbie

  22. OMG @ that many blog posts to read - you are dedicated! As you know I go AWOL and keep coming back to it, my trick from now on is to read blogs BEFORE Facebooking ... lol

How can anyone not like you when they meet you? You're one of the most "real" people in blogland that I know!
