DAY NINE...AND IT'S WET AND HORRIBLE

MY GIVEAWAY: DAY NINE

OOOOKKKKK.. today we have two KIWI Bags.... made of canvas... perfect to lug the groceries home in. Me foot is NOT included! *smiles*

The end of the school holidays is almost upon us.. three more sleeps! I can hardly wait.. as per usual. Even though the kids have been EXCELLENT these holidays.. they have both been sick and snotty... and I am over them!

I need my own space .. peace and quiet sometimes! They make CONSTANT noise.

TODAY: not sure yet... I will be back later....

Yes FELICITY, it is wet and miserable here today too. The poor kids have hardly spent any time outdoors these holidays!

ABOVE: Griffin and Teddy looking at all the entries for MY GIVEAWAY.. is YOUR NAME in there??? Tomorrow is the last day to enter.....

I'm going out later to look at Kayaks ..... I so regret selling our kayaks when we were down in Palmerston North... but hey, I didn't know then that we were moving up here did I? *sigh*

Griffin is keen as mustard for us to get some, he loves being in/on the water, and he wants to go fishing! Anything to get him off the Playstation I say! SANTA will have to start saving her money! lol

DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT!..... MY FAULT.... SHIT I'M SO MAD!

Last night I decided to take Teddy's collar off... to give him a break from it... his chin was well on the way to being all better... and he's back on his steriods... so I thought he would be alright:

Was I EVER WRONG! That little bugger has totally munted his chin AGAIN! It's a huge wound again. I could cry.
COLLAR IS BACK ON... probably for weeks. ( AND THAT PHOTO OF GRIFFIN AND TEDDY WAS TAKEN JUST BEFORE I CHECKED TEDDY'S CHIN)

LYNDA: about 95% of the comments I have are from 'regular' commentors anyway... I'd like to think they will still comment AFTER the GIVEAWAY too. I will take your name out of the hat then.

Thank you Emily for all the advice. Teddy is on a special diet for Hyper Allergenic Dogs.... he gets NOTHING else to eat but his special food. The Vet has said he could be allergic to GOD KNOWS WHAT, and allergy testing is VERY expensive and we may still not find what he is allergic to! He is like a very naughty kid who picks at himself! Yes, he gets Evening Primrose Oil too. You are now in the GIVEAWAY DRAW (twice)! lol

End of Day: I had a great afternoon.... I found what I have been looking for! More about that tomorrow. Stew came home with Falafel mix from the supermarket... fresh mix... and I cooked them in the oven instead of in oil... it worked really well. So yum with a lettuce salad. nite nite.

  2. The kiwi bags are nice. Did you make them?

School holidays are coming up? I guess with the different seasons the summer vacation would be a little different. Cold and wet here. Love this time of year with the trees changing color.

I noticed your photo is different, the look suits you.

  6. Wow Chris, you're giving away a lot of "nifty-o-keen" items. Heh! Please count me in for the running, though you'll be mailing something all the way to Canada if my name is drawn.
    Fingers crossed, Kate.

  8. Oh no! Poor little Teddy! What's the vet's opinion? Surely they can do something helpful besides dope the poor fellow up on steroids! How heartbreaking for you!

Mum used to have a corella that pulled his feathers out, and used to make himself bleed badly. She ended up having to get rid of him because he just wouldn't stop. He even had a collar, but nothing seemed to work. Poor lad, broke her heart.

I hope Teddy eventually realises the collar is to help. What does he scratch it on? Silly pup.

    good luck xxx

Oh, and SA is a plastic bag-free state now, you must take a shopping bag where ever you go!

Hi - look I have white haired dogs too (Westies) and they are prone to itchy skin as I am sure you know. One of my doggies was particularly badly affected by skin problems. I hated him on steroids it made him very lethargic and in the end I got a referral to a (dog) dermotologist. I was in CHCH at the time but I am pretty sure the dermotologist visited all the centers every second month or so. (He was from the north Island I think). My normal vet arranged the appointment for me. They tested him for potential allergies and arranged quite a specific drug treatment programme and I had to change his diet (to a form of protein he hadn't eaten before because he wouldn't have developed allergies to that, the vet suggested horse:( I couldn't do that but found venison bones.

Anyway sorry this is so long but I know how awful this can be and how difficult and frustrating it is especially when they are in pain.
Look it was expensive, time consuming and frankly a pain but only for 6 weeks or so. Archie is fine now, he eats anything, he hasn't had to have steroids for itchy skin for 4 years or so. He still gets itchy paws etc sometimes but nothing that affects his quality of life.I would really reccommend it. Poor Teddy I hope he is feeling better.

Also have you tried adding vitamin E/ flax/fish oil to his food? Archie refused to eat anything when I put it in his food but other people I spoke to swore by it and had no problem giving it to their dog.

  13. Poor wee Teddy. It is a shame it is so expensive to see what he is allergic to. Still, I bet he loves having a "special" diet - none of that cheap no frills food for him :-)

Enjoy the cold weather - soon it will be hot 'n horrible! Or isn't NZ summer weather hot 'n horrible? I hate the hot northerly winds.

  23. Oooh ... I love those bags!! Can I ask where you got them from - if they have somewhere similar in Christchurch I'll be off to buy me some.

Poor Teddy. It's so frustrating when animals have long-term or recurring problems. I hope you find a solution that removes the necessity for the collar soon.

    Have a great weekend.

Good luck with the kayaks. I hope you can find exactly what you want. J and I want kayaks one of these days. He will do some fishing on his, and I'd just enjoy being outside on the water. If I tried fishing I'd probably dump myself over.

Cute bags too! I'd love using them for groceries.
